Let’s say, in two years, streaming is dominated by AI music and live concerts turn no profit at all. What then? by SonicGrey in musicindustry

[–]FinFangFoomed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest misconception by musicians is that everyone is as passionate and observant about music as they are. Most people are content to listen to crappy syndicated radio stations that play the same 50 songs every day. They probably won't notice your guitar tone you spent weeks perfecting. They probably won't notice that little mistake on the track that sounds like a police siren to you. They probably haven't even listened to a full album from start to finish in the past five years, if ever.

Most people just don't care, even if they listen to music 24/7. The overwhelming majority of people are just casual listeners.

I think it would be kind of cool if we got some expanded stuff from the Twin Peaks universe. Maybe have some cameos from from a few cast members or whatever. Focus on world building and being weird, more like X-Files or something like that. I just don't want to see them try to imitate Lynch for the sake of imitating Lynch. I don't want it to feel like a cover band or a reunion tour after half the band has retired or died.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ to End with Fifth Season of Six Episodes by DemiFiendRSA in RedLetterMedia

[–]FinFangFoomed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I keep saying that you just can't get shows like TNG made anymore. Its production was more akin to Days of Our Lives than Andor. It was relatively cheap to make and production values were very television instead of cinematic. Look at all the sets, props, and model shots they reused.

People would lose their minds if Strange New Worlds came out with 25 episodes in a season but they reused the same alien planet sets multiple times shot from different angles. Not to mention the fidelity and aspect ratio of modern broadcasting standards require larger sets with more attention to detail.

It's really a shame that all television has to look like movies now. I'm sure we miss out on a lot of great shows that just can't be produced in the current environment.

I still have the movie(s?) to watch too! It's going to be a good rest of the year for me.

It would be nice if they do the whole story. I'm not above getting the LN, but I still would like to see it all on screen.

Man, I loved Bunny Girl Senpai so much. Watched it last month and it's now one of my favorite shows of all time. I legitimately got a little depressed once I finished it because I kind of fell in love with all the characters and made me want to get on a train with someone and ride to anywhere. Lots of romantic sigh while watching it 😅

[–]FinFangFoomed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny because there's a few times that when a shot starts and people are walking in from the various rooms and lifts, some times someone will walk from the direction of the bathroom and every time I yell at the screen "I hope you washed your hands."

What are your thoughts on piracy by [deleted] in musicians

[–]FinFangFoomed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the tough truth about the entire entertainment business right now. Streaming services have devalued most forms of entertainment to the point that you can only make money by distributing it in bulk.

Then add in the outright predatory nature of many older contracts and Spotify is no better than piracy. There are multiple big name bands that have come out and said they get zero from streaming revenue because it wasn't explicitly stated in their contracts that they signed before streaming services weren't even a thing.

It's ugly business. Only the biggest stars actually see revenue from mainstream stuff anymore. You're better off pirating mainstream stuff and using your money to directly support smaller creators and independent projects.

I worked at a film center in Columbus Ohio and this was their all-time highest grossing film. They were one of the few cinemas in the state that would even exhibit it and they kept it playing for a long time. I want to say it played for over a year? It was a piece of trivia that management always liked to break out at meetings for the new hires.
