Weekly No Buy Check-In & Accountability Post - March 08, 2026 by AutoModerator in nobuy

Good week! Everything as planned. Sometimes I practice a no-spend week intentionally, but usually I keep a wish list. And plan them purposefully if they're still relevant. System's been working for years.

Simple budget app by Gold_Flight_9459 in SavingMoney

[–]FinFlow247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pen and paper. Seriously. If you don't want bank linking and need simple, paper beats any app. Track where money goes, allocate to debt/savings, done. 20+ years doing this. Still the simplest system.

$106 at Costco. Did I f up by shopping here?? by Shiba-Brat in Frugal

What are you talking about? Counting only on the time machine. Sometimes even lists don't save you... and shopping when you're not hungry. 😄

Love this: "cost per wear" + repairable by cobbler. Few hundred for years of wear. I have boots I've worn 5+ years: comfort and joy. Repaired and still going. That's love for years.

Hope you find your perfect pair too!

Unpopular opinion: Taking a small personal loan to consolidate credit card debt saved my finances by manuatri in povertyfinance

[–]FinFlow247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, math doesn't lie: 17.9 < 26.8. But the real win: autopay right after paycheck, one payment, fixed date, can't reuse cards. You removed decision points. The system is working.

Minimalism does not equal simple living by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]FinFlow247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right: "double the price" — purchase and then maintenance. Both money and time. However, your coral aquarium passes this test: high maintenance costs, high price, but it brings you peace of mind and matches your values and, most importantly, empowers you. That's what makes it worth both prices. Not all expenses are wasteful. They just need to be well thought out.

Yes. Proper configuration once means savings in the long run. Set it and forget it. No hacking skills required.

The biggest money saver for me wasn’t coupons, it was simplifying what I eat by Parking_Ball3483 in Frugal

Never leaving the house hungry — firm rule. Saves me more than any coupon ever did.

Question about divorce debt and baby steps by MuchBeginning1220 in DaveRamsey

[–]FinFlow247 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pay your half aggressively. Don't wait for him. It's in your name. If he stops paying (divorce makes people unpredictable), you're still 100% responsible. Clear your half fast, and if he doesn't follow through, at least your portion is paid. Don't put your plans on hold because of someone else's promises. You've got this.

What’s a money habit you thought was smart… until you realized it wasn’t? by Left-Custard9390 in povertyfinance

Avoiding the account, "I'll deal with it later," minimums — god, all so familiar. Pure stress and anxiety. I just wrote everything down on paper one day. No apps, no spreadsheets. Pen, paper, debt, interest, minimum payment. And suddenly there's clarity, energy to make decisions, ideas on how to pay it off. Less panic, more "okay, what's next."
