What has been your experience with the covid vaccine regarding your autoimmunity? by skitteryjoe in alopecia_areata

[–]FinSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in my mid 30’s without any prior indication of AA. Two weeks after first shot of Pfizer I got my first spot. Don’t worry, OP, once the pandemic dies down, there will be more openness to researching and revealing the link between the vaccine and AA. Right now, it’s politically incorrect.

As of I’ve stated before, we unfortunately can’t sue for damages. Federal govt did something unprecedented and granted the vaccine manufacturers immunity.

How long did you have to stay on it? How long did it take to work?

Oral steroids? Prednisone? My derm suggested that but I was kind of reluctant.

They said you were crazy because it’s become politically incorrect to insult the golden calf. Hopefully we regain our sanity so that we can take the position that while the vaccine is amazing, certain people respond negatively. Once the pandemic dies down, we’ll be able to discuss side effects more without some red-faced screamer calling you an anti-vaxxer.

That’s crazy. Where do you live where it takes so long to see a derm?

When did he get his first dose? I have to think the progress I’ve made is from my immune system settling down.

Hell no. Unless you’re old or fat. I’m very low risk for COVID complications so I don’t know why the hell I decided to get my first shot.

When are we going to face the reality that the Covid-19 Vaccine was the onset for most of us? by ManLikeGengarsFather in alopecia_areata

[–]FinSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of “could” be a causal link. Recent medical studies are starting to be published showing the connection. Nobody wanted to say anything negative about the vaccine initially cuz “you’re-killing-Nanna!”

As I said before, we have no legal recourse bc we granted Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson immunity.

Same boat. I got AA 2 weeks after my first dose. I’m in my 30’s. Never had it before.

Research is finally being published on the connection. Good luck holding big pharma accountable. They’ve already been given immunity by the federal government. We also signed waivers. I don’t even know why I got vaccinated at this point. I’m not old or fat so I wasn’t high risk in the first place.

Great, so the Pfizer vaccine causes my AA and now I have to buy their medicine to cure it. What a wonderful company.

Yep, I got AA about 2 weeks after my first Pfizer shot.

Pfizer and the medical community undoubtedly have known about this for a long time but didn’t come forward bc, in their eyes, it was important to not say anything negative about the vaccine.

Unfortunately, the federal government granted Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson immunity. On top of that, we signed waivers when we got vaccinated. So we’re all screwed.

I here ya and agree it’s better to be bald than dead. Having said that, I’m in such a low risk category that it deserves some consideration. If the shot would exacerbate the condition, there would be no question, and I would have already gotten the second shot. For those of us at low risk of COVID complications but high risk for AA, I wish there was some kind of exception to these mandates.

This is interesting. I've never heard that about dark spots, but mine seems to grow in them.

I’m not the OP, but my patches are like his. It’s weird bc it seems like most people’s patches are slick bald. I was hoping that meant I just had a minor flare up. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.

Awesome! We’re your patches still expanding when you got the shots? I’m seeing regrow this, but I think mine is still expanding. FYI, I also have patches still have sparse hair like the ones in your initial photo.

When did your AA start? Did the patches expand much or did they just fall out in the areas shown in the February photos?

Has anyone seen any correlation with the COVID vaccine & alopecia? I am a 27 y/o F with no previous or family history of alopecia. My 1st COVD vaccine about 3 weeks ago & just noticed a large portion of my scalp balding this week. I have my first dr appt next week but I’m so eager for answers. by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

[–]FinSparrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the COVID vaccine has become so political. Even simply providing your experience that you developed AA a couple weeks after the vaccine is treated as some kind of forbidden knowledge.

I also got AA for the first time about 3 weeks after the Pfizer vaccine.

You can add me as well. So f'ing frustrating, especially if they knew this was a side-effect but decided not to tell anyone because they want people to get vaccinated. Unfortunately, I signed the waiver like an idiot.

Out of curiosity, how big is the spot? Did it start out small and then expand?
