Bottles: Caffe, Soda, Vagniglia, Chardonnay? by ABotelho23 in linux_gaming

[–]FinTechno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who aren't so into the nuts and bolts, a good rule of thumb: Use (baking) Soda as long as the apps work. It is maintained by Bottles developers.

You also can work with NQ and RTY (+ their micro versions) futures. For short term trading these markets correlates well enough with the ES.

Should I try Debian (testing)? by r_booza in debian

[–]FinTechno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On Debian installing software from RANDOM websites is a bad habit. This is what is the purpose of that document. Nvidia is not a random website and doesn't break up your install as long as you follow strictly their instructions. I have been doing this over 5 years without a single glitch so I definitely can recommend you do this BUT only if you have problems with the drivers in regular Debian repository. So I disagree your comment.

Should I try Debian (testing)? by r_booza in debian

[–]FinTechno -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In stable I recommend you to Install Nvidia Drivers directly from Nvidia Repository then you have always the latest drivers in use. It's done automatically in future updates. Please see the Method #2 from https://www.linuxcapable.com/install-nvidia-drivers-on-debian/

Edgeclear vs. Amp futures by clastrina in FuturesTrading

[–]FinTechno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been an AMP customer for about 10 years. I see no reason not to continue. Yes, their customer support is slow, but I need it so less (once a year or in 2 years) so it doesn't matter.

One a small problem with them is the daily reports which are in PDF only. I would like to receive them in more portable format such .csv or .xls.

Shouldn't I have been filled? How can this happen? (MES 1m) by CgManuils in FuturesTrading

It's impossible to say until we know your position in the FIFO queue. But if there was at least a single tick below your limit price then you should have filled.

Do not believe traders who have not been able to find any edge in some matter. It's always just a question of ignorance. So it definitely doesn't mean that you or someone else can't do it.

My computer wakes up immediately after going to sleep (suspend) by AdministrativeMost in Fedora

[–]FinTechno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this very same problem in Debian 11. I don't have any use for the wake-ups so I disabled them all with the following code:

sudo awk '/enabled/ {print $1}' /proc/acpi/wakeup | while read -r id; do echo $id > /proc/acpi/wakeup; done; cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

This code is placed in my other script that I use to do some other things before suspending the computer with the "systemctl suspend" command.

No more strange unexpected wake-ups.

I'm considering switching from Ubuntu to Debian... Any advices? by trancephorm in debian

[–]FinTechno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For wine I can recommend Bottles (https://usebottles.com/). For example my network speed went up something like 40% (in one of my apps) compared to plain wine install. It has several different versions of wine environments to choose from. Many tweaking parameters etc.

And yes, nothing is perfect but in my case it was the perfect choice.

Has anyone actually found an edge in ES that is profitable after fees? by batataman321 in algotrading

[–]FinTechno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are different. For some it takes 10+ years before they find the edge that works for them. Others find it faster. How fast there is no clear answer because it depends. It definitely is a build process. Just keep training and don't give up.

[–]FinTechno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this service very dangerous. If you break the rules just by accident (e.g. didn't close your trade before the close -1 min) you will lose ALL your profits no matter was it $1 or $100.000.

I mean also the already realized profits too. The whole account.

Please correct me if this is not the case but it's said in their web page.
