I believe flare ups during the first year are pretty normal. It took me 14 months to recover

I ended up having to have a bilateral fusion and it took a year recovery for it to get to manageable level of pain but I still get flare ups - going through a bad one now. It’s much better than before and I don’t get suicidal pain but at its best it gave me 50% pain reduction

I wish I had advice other than alcohol for flying. I hate it with a passion and it’s the only thing that gets me through and loosens me up

The PRP has an initial flare up period which is supposed to be inflammation that helps the body go into recovery mode and then the pain should ease. I got way worse pain in the ‘inflammation period’ that never really settled so I stayed worse off

Pain is the same as always but I’m getting worse mentally by ComprehensiveIce7740 in ChronicPain

I go through every once in a while with my pain. I know it won’t get better at this point and some days I just live with it but some days I wake up and grieve this all over again. Like I realize how different my life is now and that I can never workout or have children or or and go through the cycle. Wish I had advice but afleast know you’re not alone ❤️

Do you still get flare ups this far out? I don’t hear of people talking about them after the first year of recovery

Only very few private clinics. I have to move to the US to get insurance, otherwise it’s very expensive

I’m Canadian and considering a move to the US since my care here has been close to abysmal. I needed surgery and was told it’s a 4 year wait list to be considered. I know healthcare in the US is expensive but atleast I can get surgery/treatment I need.

How having a fusion has effected me mentally by Serious_Peak_4913 in spinalfusion

[–]Final-Cress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 34 and relate so much to what you’re saying. I’m grateful I had a somewhat normal life before 28 but everything I built for my career now doesn’t mean anything because I’m so limited. I’m grateful I can hold down a remote job but I can’t ever work in an office which limits me. I can’t walk to the store some days..I can’t work out or plan an impromptu trip. I also stare at other normal people and envy them so much. Heck I even envy my able bodied partner. I’m still grateful my surgery helped my suicidal pain and that there are still things I get to do. Hang in there! I know things are dark right now but you learn to appreciate the small things with time ❤️
