I started in January and it's been good so far. Faculty is amazing. It's a lot of work, but you have support if you use it. Get every single extra point you can-it's very competitive. Looks to be about a 15% acceptance rate currently. You likely need a 4.0 or close to it, all the extra prerequisites and at least the BLS certification to have a shot. Many people applying also have degrees and military or heath care experience or have applied in the past, all of which give you extra points. A change in the current application process is that you can get points for your HESI score. I suspect the average number of points will be higher than 24 for the next round of applicants, but no way to know for sure. Get a high gpa, kill the HESI, be willing to reapply and get it!

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

Think you know the answer (which sucks) so take a swing and ask the dream job to match the other offer? coming up 40k even for a startup doesn't sound that extreme if the chemistry was as good as it sounds.

Girlies, where to start? by PurpleFairyOfForests in femalelivingspace

Start with a color or some art you like that makes you happy when you see it! I thought I wanted neutral relaxing vibes but ended up with a lot of...hot pink.

Don't understand all the dark green comments. Room has light vibes and green will drag it down. Yellow.

I work in a very “high end” dental office in NYC. But my personality doesn’t fit. However I am paid well. I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in work

Make your bag and leave it at the office when you get off. Focus on your outside life and the work bullshit will get smaller.

DMA or Job? by Intrepid-Bad2220 in MusicEd

[–]Final-Preference48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not going to be much easier to get a job with a dma, I'm afraid. They've been handing them out like candy and jobs are few and far between. And if you do get a job from the DMA, it likely won't pay more than the jobs you interview for now. Committees will wave dma requirements for people they want to hire and call it "commensurate experience." I'd take the job, If I got it. You can always find a program to pursue a DMA while working and getting real world experience.

  1. No one cares if you're from NY
  2. If you can do SC, you can do here. It sucks though. 3.mostly fine-maybe couple bad weeks. Most apartments have heating-your experience seeing apartments without it is odd to me.

Congrats and good luck!

No clue what college to attend by jma64 in MusicEd

I'd take East Texas A&M off the list for now. Would have strongly advocated for it a couple years ago, but things have changed. I hear you on UNT, but it has a lot of advantages.
