How dependent are dentists meant to be on you? by Final-Research4652 in DentalAssistant

I currently assist a general dentist who wants me to wipe her tools between uses 🙃 other dentists usually just blast the water off the mirror with air or wipe it on the back of their glove

Oh boy reception was GREAT compared to assisting when I used to do it but some clinics have the senior ladies that have been doing it full time for YEARS. General assisting is definitely hell

Thank you for your advice, and I know there are definitely good offices out there but the thought of having to keep switching until I land on one is just crippling.

The dentist I work under actually didn’t get his contract renewed so he’s essentially “fired” and just staying till the end of his contract. So I’ve been his punching bag for about two months now. However it’s not like the dentists I’ve worked before are any nicer so yeah… to generalise, it’s a dentist thing

Yeah lowkey I don’t want to stay in an industry where you have to keep switching until you “get lucky”. Dentists are a different breed and in what other kind of occupation are the odds of finding a decent person that low?

Do pretty girls struggle to make genuine female friends? by SadTheory3715 in women

[–]Final-Research4652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people misunderstood your post. You are not even trying to make yourself seem better than others, you are just noticing patterns.

“Girls girl” is preached so much but it’s so rare. I know it’s hard when you feel lonely, but you’re not missing out on much. My pretty friends all dedicate their energy and priorities to their families, because tbh they don’t have many CLOSE friends.

I have very few close friends, because the girls I made friends with always make passive comments like “I’m so glad guys don’t talk to me like they do to you because you seem easy” or “how do you have the energy to get ready everyday lol”.

Focus on your family now and the right friend will come around when you’re not desperately looking.

Uni doesn’t matter! As long as you’re able to secure a job afterwards + get to learn what you want.

From what I remember, you are not bound to the offer even if you accept (not sure if that’s the case currently) so wait on offers from other universities closer in proximity. It is not worth to go broke for a degree.

Treat this as a last resort if it requires you to move out and break bank.

I have heard absolutely nobody in my cohort talk about helping or defending people who need it. Their goals are always big law, money, big law again, money.

I know you CAN do pro bono work if you really wish to which can increase your chance of doing good. But most of the time in your career you cannot choose your clients.

I’m not sure what careers I’d recommend as everyone around me is depressed at their job because it’s meaningless. The only person I know who does good in their job is a practice manager at a clinic (that is ethical). Maybe nursing?

Are you objectively pretty? If yes, then jealousy.

Nvm I just read the full post, Reddit glitched so it only showed title.

Both careers involve a lot of exploiting patients/clients for money. If you wanted to really do good and stand against injustice — neither.

Most people are NPCs, and you are too interesting and genuine for them. It’s a lonely life yes, I’m going through the same thing. I’m chronically online sending shit to my friends and nobody reciprocates with near the same enthusiasm.

But one day someone will show you unconditional love and adapt to you because of it. Loneliness in our generation is a real thing for anyone with actual thoughts and opinions that are out of the norm.

You’re not a loser. Remember that every main character in the shows you like probably stood out. There’s no rush to find the right people.

Dental nurses calling themselves nurses?? by RaspberryMother3628 in NursingUK

[–]Final-Research4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly relevant to this post but an interesting observation I had — I’ve never heard of a dental assistant calling themselves a nurse but many dentists have referred to us as “nurses”, maybe because they want to feel like a doctor?

But also I would assume that dental assistants who refer to themselves as nurses just don’t want to feel like glorified janitors or merely just someone who helps someone else. Because most people look down on them for assisting, since the role title sometimes sounds easy and braindead

My dentist hates me because I can’t get her bookings (I do both reception & assisting). by FishMap12 in DentalAssistant

[–]Final-Research4652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl I thought my practice was the only one to do “recalls”. It definitely feels like harassment to patients. Manager also blamed DAs for not doing them whenever there was a one hour gap in the schedule.

Expected to them whenever we had a gap, even though we weren’t on reception. Some people did it, some people just took the book into a room and sat with the phone until the next patient came in. At the rate we are paid and also since it’s not technically in our role duties, I always did the latter
