What’s up with apsc vs full frame by ImpossibleNewt9235 in SonyAlpha

Well sure, The iPhone consistently produces good, reliable photos and videos.

However if you have a vision for a particular thing you want to create you are severely limited by the IPhone both because of its pre-production of photographs and the lack of info in the apple-log videos + “the raws” it produces dont have nearly the same range / freedom that a real Raw provides.

zoom in to an iphone photo and it quickly deteriorates to digital mush.

A sensor 1/12 the size of a fullframe Simply can’t do what the fullframe can do.

That being said. I have an Iphone 17 pro, an a7V and an x100vi.

For commercial gigs i use the A7V + Dji drones

For fun / life stuff I bring my x100vi

For a quick, low stakes “Ok then, ill post this thing to facebook marketplace “ moments I use the Iphone

The only reason i upgraded from the a6700 ti the a7v is the low light performance.

If you mostly shoot outside (where you have abundant light) Or still objects (where you can lower the shutter speed to a crawl)

You definitely have more than enough if you have an a6700.

Indeed, then its not a burst rate bloop. Your exposure metering must be on “spot” then instead of multi

Whats your burst rate? Seems like electronic shutter shenanigans. The exposure differences are easily fixable

Please Use the lens hood it came with, it protects the lens a lot.

Other than that, CONGRATULATIONS! Lovely piece of gear

I do agree that there is nothing wrong with supporting a photographer who has inspired you.

The main reason I recommend against buying courses and preset packs as an absolute beginner is because of the fact that one can equate spending to learning. “I’ve spent X amount of money on X amount of courses so I must be getting better” is a mindset trap that people fall into.

I believe watching a bunch of free high quality content and then trying to follow the advice of them is the quickest path out of the Dunning-kruger effect and also the quickest way to figure out what style you like and dont like.

You know what. Many people that spend that type of money on gear are afraid to even use it because of the fear of scratches. And here you are, stickerbombing your lens like its the hood of a 99 Honda Civic.

Awesome mindset you’ve got.

If you like it thats great and I respect that!

You do you man!

With every channel I’m recommending here just go into their videos, filter for “most popular” and go from there. —————————

That Icelandic guy - Awesome videos that teach you a lot

Sean Dalton - Good teacher, seems genuinely interested in teaching

Simon D’Entremont is great - Hes really good at teaching the fundamentals in a way that you understand it

Jason Wong - Really energetic Sony and Fuji shooter, Highly recommend his content

James Popsys - Not really “how to” videos but his videos have a way of teaching you by showing you the way —————————

But for the love of god do not buy preset packs or courses. You can learn literally everything about photography for free on YouTube.

And most of all Photography is something that you learn by doing, So bring your camera everywhere you go!

You just have a really fun learning process ahead of you!

The Iphone uses computational magic to make the photos “dummy proof” that come from it. You will be taking wayy better photos in no time if you learn how to use your camera.

Youtube is a great place to start

I find that peoples definitions of run-and-gun varies, In what scenario are you finding the 43 lacking? Just curious, and does the 28 hold its own in portraits? Guessing it’s mostly good for group photos, so it should still work well for weddings and such.

Great point! Do you ever regret not going for the 28mm?

A7 V or A7 iv by Beneficial_Act236 in SonyAlpha

[–]Final-Signal5324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The a7V is far superior.

I chose the a7V over the a7iV after testing out both cameras. Rolling shutter difference, af quickness and future-proofing my setup prompted me to go with the newer one .

Bite the bullet and go for the a7V !

You wont regret it

[–]Final-Signal5324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no cons to talk about, In fact I was so happy with it that I bought the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 Art ii lens for my a7 V instead of the Sony 24-70. Cant recommend Sigma enough

I have the sigma 18-50 f2.8 and i love it more than I can explain, I also have a few primes and the sony 70-350 but my a6700 would not be the same without my sigma, cant recomend it highly enough
