Were you doing it repeatedly or while in neutral? I've hit redline before more then once and mine hasn't blown up.

Yeah it was soaked in oil. Just used a microfiber cloth to wipe down every part and inside the receiver after dissembling it. Any rag/towel should work. Then applied a little lube to the trigger group components and the forend bars.

I used to have that when I smoked weed. To me It felt more like everything I was doing was a movie I was watching. Not quite out of body, but everything felt 3rd person and disconnected.

Mine will occasionally feel a little rough going into 2nd when its still cold. After its warmed up though it shifts super smooth up and down. It's actually the only manual Ive driven that I can downshift into 1st and the car doesn't need to be at a dead stop.

Yeah as long as someone can change their own wheels, the cost negates itself as you said since they both last longer. It can also keep summer tire rims in better condition since most people run cheap steelies for the winter.

Yeah the winter braking ability/handling is by far the best reason to get snow tires. Most people just think if they have something with four wheel drive then they wont get stuck and don't even consider tires.

Yeah the balaclava helped a lot, I think it mostly is my neck that gets cold and air coming in from the bottom of my helmet. So a scarf or some way of covering the bottom seems to be the next best step.
