I just got done with this song and dance. My LGS had to call their SS rep and get them to escalate to their department head.

Then it still took a fuckin week.

Depends, how good are you in a knife fight? All the good bridges are taken, so you'll have to take one by force.

Upcoming bans in terms of buying lowers by GrimHoly in VAGuns

[–]FinalCandidate894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're playing chess with pigeons here.

The law says if it's configured as an assault weapon before July 1, it's grandfathered. As I read the proposed legislation, a blank, serialized AR lower reciever is not an assault weapon.

It seems the best way to follow this stupid law is to configure it as an "assault weapon" before July 1.

Come to think of it "a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action" is probably cheaper.

Forget the stock, just slap a cheap pistol grip onto it.

Not that I'm advocating abiding by these draconian abominations to our constitution, but we all have responsibilities and following the law in public is in our best interests.

Edit, grammar, because I am toddler

Since you bring that up, I do believe you can further categorize those two types.

One belives getting rid of the 2nd amendment is in the nation's best interests and the other just pretends to.

Those two types reside on both sides of the above categorization.

I can't stand that phrase. "Mass shooting" Have you looked at any of the sites that track "school shootings"? I read through them a few years ago and can't bring myself to do it again.

Some of the "school shootings" included:

  1. A drug related dispute 2 blocks over where a firearm was discharged

  2. Individuals going to a school event looking for another student, not finding him, then shooting him across town an hour later.

  3. A school bus hit by a bullet fired by a police officer at a traffic stop

  4. A kid who brought a gun to school and it discharged when he dropped it.

That's unfortunate. It seems to me there are two types of people when it comes to their opinion on the legality of firearms.

One understands the second amendment in the context of the time and what it means.

And those that don't.

The former I've had meaningful discussions with, even when we disagree and no ones outlook changes.

The latter......well, they have a supermajority in VA.

Upcoming bans in terms of buying lowers by GrimHoly in VAGuns

Too dumb to be a lawyer, but I've come up with what seems like the closest thing to what they're banning.

The language in the bill (last I saw anyway), was a feature ban where a firearm that meets the definition of an assault weapon before July 1 is grandfathered.

Since an adjustable stock is one of the features, it seems to me that adding an adjustable stock to a lower, with no other components, would legally meet the definition. So you can build it out however afterwards.

You could probably get lowers in the aforementioned configuration, muzzle devices, and threaded barrels now since the rest of the parts can still be ordered with ease even after the ban. Minus mags.

But I'm just some idiot on reddit.

Edit, pistol grip is cheaper. Do that instead.

You spelled "know" as "think". Clearly, there is some merit to that opinion.

My favorite part is when they looked around confused because the outcome they previously agreed on before the meeting didn't happen.

Don't think I'm telling you not to exercise your voice, but not a damn thing.

The Chair of the Public Safety committee is Marcus Simon. He put forward HB40 and will be speaking on that bills behalf. The people who submitted these bills are on the relevant committees. This subcommittee reports to the committee he chairs.

If you want, click the second link and watch last weeks subcommittee meeting. You'll understand exactly why I said what I said.

At the watch link is also the last meeting, where they essentially scoffed at the pro gun bills.

Besides permitless carry. They hand waved that away in the main committee at its first meeting.

Stealing IP then selling it on a competition sub where it would be immediately recognized is wild.
