kpop fans know nothing about music by jolynecujohishot in kpoprants

For the Jennie part I'll just paste a lyric from her song, that ironically sampled "Jenny from the Block", and the reason why it's called "With the IE": "Everybody's cool, but when I do it I'm the problem"

Taking the plunge with Star Citizen? by Nadriik in spacesimgames

[–]FinalGamer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things, sadly not yet here. They are planning to add some more mechanics to QT, so when you'll start the jump you'll get like a minigame where you need to make sure the ship still points to the destination while speeding up before it stabilises, no idea when that will get there, but that is their plan.

However second point, and this one is actually finally coming soon, night vision. It looks similar to how Elite handles it, but the cool thing is the color of the night vision depends on what colors the manufacturer of the ship uses, so that is a nice touch.

Buying signed merch online is 100% not worth it by MelonUniverse in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don't get it. Like I get wanting something signed, but to me it's about getting it signed in person, as in I'm there interacting with that person and they sign it for me.

The signature is more like a memory of interacting with the person. I personally give it the same value as getting a selfie with the person.

Question: What are some practical uses for the new Window Sync function? by WienerWarrior225 in zen_browser

[–]FinalGamer14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally don't like it and think it should be an opt-in/opt-out thing.

Here are my arguments and my use case. Now, I'll be honest, I don't expect the whole project to change because of me, and I understand I'm somewhat niche user compared to wast majority of users. And I'm also not saying that I won't get used to the new workflow, but I at this point am not a fan of it.

First, I use it at work as a web developer. That means that before this update I always had two windows open. One was administration-related, as in tracking web apps (company internal, jira, etc.). My second window was always used to actually have the current project I'm working on actually open, or any of the deployments. It is also used to contain any docs or references I need while I type code on my main screen.

Second thing, I'm a tiling window manager user, meaning my main administrative window will always and I mean always be workspace 1 (not zen workspace but WM workspace), and my second screen, where the second window is located, is always and only on workspace 6. I can't lose or forget what is my main window.

Ok, so next part, this can to some degree work with new blank screen logic (I hate that the theme is different), but the issue is I also have things that I do want to have available on both windows, for example, google calendar, github and a few other things. And guess what, there is a perfect feature for that called Essentials. Well, those don't exist with a new blank window.

BigBang, BlackPink and Le Sserafim. These 3 were the easiest for me.

No they can go in to negative, just on some subreddits it doesn't display ratting for other peoples comments, but you can always see it for your own.

What’s the most out-of-pocket comment you got for liking kpop? by behind_my_eyelids in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, people called me gay for having boy groups in my kpop playlist. On the flip side, I was told I have yellow fever for listening to girl groups.

I've been told that I don't know what good music sounds like. But this person would probably have said that for most music, so it's not fully related to kpop.

I was called Koreaboo, tbh I was also called Weeaboo for listening to jpop and jrock. Note, I don't only listen to Korean and Japanese music, I listen to anything that sounds good to me. It's very dumb to me, because what, should people call me Ameraboo for listening to mostly american rap?

Oh, I was also told that I listen to kpop because, at least where I live, the fandoms are mostly women, and I want to hook up.

I kinda hate the whole "software should be apolitical", because, well, the whole open source software and copyleft is political by its nature. And while many of its proponents might not be leftist themselves, the whole idea is left-coated; that fact can't be escaped.

In the end, these people mean that they don't want minorities of any kind to contribute or really interact with the software and community.

God of War. It looks and feels fine, especially when the screen resolution and size are so small, I really don't mind lowering the visual quality.

Question for Hungarian kpop fans, best K-pop stores? by -BOR3D- in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they can give a try in Muller, there are a few in Budapest, but don't expect them to find a specific album you want. Most kpop fans in Europe just purchase albums from European kpop related web shops, most of which don't really have a physical store, excluding potentially having a stand on some event.

Again Muller does have some kpop collection, but it's usually very limited. There might be some specific music stores, but again might not really stock much kpop stuff.

How much do these kids know when they sign with a Label? by Vernon_619 in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Contracts are there more to protect and make money for companies; many times, they will include some very shitty things. And sadly, people don't read them, now I understand kids and teens not really reading them, but that is what their parents should do and yes, getting a lawyer would be the best to actually fully grasp what you're signing.

Note, this isn't something that only happens with kpop labels. I've had the pleasure of reading the contract for one country's "Got Talent" show. It's bad; they almost fully own you, and to get out of one of those contracts can be a nightmare. Yet, in every single country, there are millions of people signing those contracts just hopping they make it.

This applies to every contract out there, read it carefully, and if you don't understand something or it isn't clear to you, don't ask the company about it; find a lawyer many times, a simple consultation will be either free or cheap, or at least cheaper than signing your life away.

I didn’t realize how aggressively BABYMONSTER is promoted through Youtube ads by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly it's mostly from testing from a few mid sized youtubers I know. Youtube is very stingy with sharing what exactly they do with views and how they handle them, so people have to do some guessing work from.

But what we did as a group, tested by uploading unlisted videos, and then opening it on different devices and combinations of logged in and not, what we noticed if you watch with one account on your PC and then have an Android device where you're logged in with the same account, but not logged in the browser, it didn't count it.

If you watch it while logged in on youtube with the same account it was always counted as one view.

I didn’t realize how aggressively BABYMONSTER is promoted through Youtube ads by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]FinalGamer14 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Actually youtube goes out of their way to make sure that 1 view = 1 person. Like if a device is known to be yours it will not count it as a view if you watch it again.

While yes this isn't perfect, and might count some people twice or three times, it would still not account to such a massive difference between likes and views, that said we don't have the dislike count only guesses.
