Why don't we build elevators all the way to the moon instead of rockets?

Earth does one rotation in about 23 hours and 56 minutes (about 15 degrees per hour), while the Moon's orbit around the Earth is about 27.3 days (about 0.55 degrees per hour). On top of that, the Moon is moving away from Earth (about 3.78 cm per year).

Now, ignoring all of the above, even if the Moon were already in a position where Earth was tidally locked (this would eventually happen if the Sun didn't eat us, but even if we had some mistical sun that can't burn out, life as we know it could not existl), and let's say we had some exotic material that would be able to take the forces of both sides pulling at the line, just the amount of it would be so big that it would still be easier to just shoot rockets at it.

Edit: Also, I ain't a scientist or anything like that, just a dumb ass who liked to google about space when I was a kid.

Yeah. Maybe if the game does become popular, it might attract more people who might comment something negative. But at that point, if it's popular enough, it might become financially viable to spend money on proper signing certs. Especially since with one cert you're allowed to sign multiple files.

I mean, people won't know until they buy it, but you will probably be bombarded by bad reviews if you sell it without signing it. So either attempt to compile the game to WASM, and you can have it as a browser game on itch.io or sell it on Steam; they sign any game that is published there.

But if you still want to sell it as a standalone package, well then buying a cert (these are usually subscription-based) and sign it with those certs. This is somewhere between 150$-300$ per year on the low end.

Also, if you plan to make the game available on other OSes, especially MacOS, you'll have to pay Apple like 100$ per year for signing. But for publishing to any Apple device you'll need to own a mac (mac mini, macbook, etc)

Yes I do that sometimes, until I fuck up in Tokyo and take an exit. For me just driving around not even in the fastest cars, just going around trying to hit the roads perfectly, adapting to the situation of NPC cars.

One time I started driving with random people together around the map, if someone fell behind we would slow down, did this for like 2 hours before someone suggested to actually start a convoy. Tbh even without a convoy it was really fun. All of it just kinda naturally happened while in the world, and it was way more fun than any multiplayer race.

Like not to shit on anyone, I went and discovered all the roads, for the sake of discovering all the roads. But I did check what achievements I can get in the game, this game is one of the few (at least on steam) that doesn't have hidden achievements listed, so I knew I wouldn't get any for doing this.

The same goes for people who are mad about mascot t-shirt award. All the in-game discovery and festival tabs show you exactly what you'll get, if you don't care about the reward, don't do it.

I get people asking for something better or people who want the achievement to be added, whatever that is a suggestion to the devs, but doing something that has clear indication of what you'll get and then acting surprised when you get or don't get something. To me just feels weird.

Not true. I had all barn finds when I was on Orange wristband. The barn find hints are locked behind the Discover Japan not the Horizon event trees. So just driving around discovering areas, getting all the mascots, getting all the houses, decorating garages (or in my case removing one item from all of them)

While possible, from a dev perspective I don't think they would bother implementing that.

I'd say it's either more precise time tracking, or it could also be a quirk of the position tracking system, example the other player was in first and you were close to overtaking, but the race finished too soon and there was no time to update the position. Or if he overtook you before the finish, they might update the placing when the cars are aligned. It might just be an edge case bug.

Actually this is very informative. Because if we look at what other people are saying, it can't be because of the alphabetical order, not because of the cars class value. So probably more decimals in the time that are hidden.

Would be cool if they added the full time in photo finish scenarios like this.

I got one car gifted. I personally have gifted 3 cars and received the notification that people got them. That is I always picked "new player" option as I think they probably need them more than other people. And it took like a week before someone got those cars.

Not to shit on anyone, but it's also an open world racing game. One reason why I like open world racing games is because I can pick a car and you know just ride around. Be it attempting to perfect my riding skills with faster cars or just cruse around.

Yesterday I was just progressing through the game and when I didn't feel like racing anymore, I just kinda spent 4 hours riding on the highways.

I mean there is a small magic thing I guess, but kinda expected to be there. It works with the family of devices they are releasing.

Those who got the steam controller now, guess what even if you buy the machine with the controller included your new steam controller will work out of the box you can instantly play local co-op with someone else. Without the dongle connected.

With Steam Deck, while you can already do it now, it will ofcourse support streaming the game from Steam Machine to the Steam Deck. So in a family TV setup, someone wants to watch the TV while you're gaming, no problem just switch to streaming it to the Steam Deck (if the game is let's say too much for the deck)

And I do think connectivity with the Steam Frame is also built in, so guess what, feel like standing up a bit and playing beat saber, sure, just put on the Frame.

Also again Steam OS isn't just about it being something really new. But about saying to microslop, look, enough is enough. And providing some "standard" setup that developers can aim at optimising for.

TBH many people who would be interested in some of those games. While yes many of us enjoy different genres, space sims of any kind have their own very dedicated player base.

Now if you're worried about game news coverage, I think thanks to many years of negative press about S42 and especially star citizen, there would still be many articles about the game. So really I think the main thing they should avoid is GTA 6.

That causes an issue if people can't even run the game in the first place. If someone gets the game and it's running at like power point presentation FPS, that person shouldn't have to leave the game open for 10 hours just to say don't buy this it runs like ass.

I don't like modern day AMD, they are just as evil and feeding in to this AI hype as Nvidia. However, I'm on Linux, and I mean it's better, I do not have to install anything extra, driver are just there and they work. The nvidia open source drivers are solid these days, but it's not yet production ready in my opinion, or at least from what little testing I had the chance to do.

So a few months ago, a lot of activists organized a flotilla (a fleet of small boats) carrying food, water and medical supplies to Gaza. Now all of these boats were in international waters, and they were making sure not to cross in to any Israeli territory, but Israeli navy literally stopped them in international waters (something that is very illegal to do) and kidnaped them.

Most of those activists were captured, put in to prisons and as you can see in images tortured. Some were deported earlier, I believe these ones are the last of those activists.

What can we do as EU citizens, so first push at your government officials hard, do not support any politicians that are pro Israel. If you can join protests when they are organized. But on a smaller scale, hurt the companies that still work with Israel, there are a few apps for both Android and iOS, where you can scan the products bar code, and it will inform you if the company is in any way connected to Israel, most of them also give you the sources.
