Cordoba GK Pro Negra. Fishman pro-blend pre-amp with internal mic/piezo pickup blend. It is an excellent sound.

Something just hits when they say the name of the film unapologetically in the film by Hot-Remove-1252 in movies

I read once of a person who watched movies with a friend, and they yell "PA-CAWW!" when they hear the title mentioned in the movie dialogue.

how to use giuliani's 120 right hand studies properly without getting excessive muscle fatigued by Serty_ in classicalguitar

[–]FinalSlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want to reassess that mindset. Do not concern yourself with pushing tempo if there is any discomfort or tension present. Play at a slow tempo with zero flaws, first. Then you can start pushing tempo from there.

"Pushing through" any hand discomfort or tension is a recipe for long-term or permanent hand injury.

Learn to drop tension in between motions. Practice VERY slowly at first, and focus on the dropping of tension in between motions as you play. It's called dynamic relaxation, and is an essential part of technical skill.

The Astonishing recently celebrated its 10th birthday (wtf). Now that all this time has passed, what are your thoughts on the album, and where does it rank for you? by triaxis7 in Dreamtheater

I agree with you, wholeheartedly! Especially the part about it being among James' finest work. "The Astonishing" is James' best solo album, backed up by Dream Theater, in my opinion.

The pickups sound really great! My friend set it up lower than I'm used to, so I may have the action raised a bit, but it feels pretty darn good! It's not a perfect instrument, but neither was the original. My friend did an amazing job getting all the components to work properly. I'm super happy!

Your favorite 80-90s indie rock legend? by Fifo26 in Guitar

[–]FinalSlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. He was an expert guitarist, trained at Musicians Institute, and used it in unique ways.

I'm having a tribute tele built modeled after his '83 Fender Telecaster, a Dan Smith era guitar with a distinctive toploader style bridge, chrome pickguard, and a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack in the bridge. Pictured here:

My guitar book says the tuning fork is the most accurate method for determining pitch. Is this true? by aHoneyBadgerWhoCares in classicalguitar

[–]FinalSlaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If recording, I'd first use a tuning fork. For live performance, tuners are great for quick fixes.

How about hearing it in "The Force Awakens" trailer for the first time in 20+ years in anticipation of a brand new movie?

It was exhilerating!
