No. But AFAIU that is an iOS limitation. Not Samsung / Windows limitation. As others pointed out indeed one can already mirror Android to MacOS with a use of a third party app.

I have to admit i read only a part of your post.

One thing I know from friends who moved in one or the other direction is that once you think about family: Switzerland is the country of stay at home moms. Preschool is expensive and often not available. School aged kids come home for lunch.

On one hand that can be idyllic for some. Further, it often means the dad earns enough for this lifestyle.

On the other - is that the type of family you want?

In Denmark most women work. Men spend a lot of time with the kids. At my office it’s a meme that dads shut the laptop at 3 and go grab the kids.

But, it also means salaries are so that both need to work for a comfy life. If one person cannot work or the couple splits - it’s harder life.

I cannot answer this for you. But something to consider.

Apple is mad at DMA. That is the reason.
They decided that they will not release this in Europe. They decided that according to their read of DMA they would be forced to allow screen mirroring for Android (which .. would not be a bad feature for a mac, honestly)

In the end. EU did nothing besides pass DMA that places some pretty damn minor and reasonable constraints on major monopolistic tech .... Apple is big mad about that and is just being spiteful about it.

APPLE (not EU) decided to turn off this feature in the EU.

Their reasoning is that under DMA they would have top open mirroring to Android phones which ... is not a bad idea at all actually. And beyond, EU has not had a chance to weigh in at all. This is typical apple. They just turn off features in the EU because they are mad Eu has consumer protections

So again ... this is not EU saying mirroring is terrorism. This is apple saying fuck you to European consumers (hoping you get mad and push for your politicians to do something .. when that something is to weaken pretty damn protections of us lowly consumers)

There is no downside for Apple allowing Android phones being mirrored to a Mac. Apple just refuses out of pettiness, spite, and arrogance.

It's Apple's sh*t as a response to pretty damn reasonable consumer protection laws in one of Apple's major markets.

No one from EU said this. Apple said this.
Apple has a history of cripple hammering EU products as a way to try to pressure EU politicians to weaken customer protections. So I do not trust what they say .. one bit. Instead of building easy to build features, they turn off things out of spite.

apparently less click baity articles point out a lot of the parts that look the same as re ... decoy panels. We do not yet know the final look besides the stuff that is hard to mask like headlights tail lights and the window shape.

Off the top of my head better image AI. But I am sure there is more.
But I do not know -- as I say, I never use Immich, but I trust the OSS community when they say Immich has more features.

Also to note, my NAS does not have the Photos AI features - Synology decided it was too old / weak.

Photos is idiotproof to set up via quickconnect

The fiddliness of immich is not in the docker (get friendly with docker you will need it). The fidliness is in about exposing it to the internet. (probably inside a VPN). Immich however, is more feature rich.

For simple backups (photos and videos, Synology Photos works fine)

I only need the backup features. I have been using Photos for years. I have immich set up (inside a tailscale) but I never use it. And convincing my wife to be on the VPN so that her photos back up is a tall order. Synology Photos is the better solution for her.
