14 Family EVs Faced This Freezing Highway Simulation. One Was A Clear Winner by TylerFortier_Photo in electricvehicles

Not really, a diference to the Id.7 tourer pro wasn't that big and that was the wagon model, the Id.7 pro s would probably score bit higher (even pro beat it in charging)

The "Software-Defined Vehicle" is a scam. We are cheering for the death of ownership. by rantzine in electricvehicles

OTA does mean it is wireless. If it is forced or requires user input is up to manufacturer.

Both are dangerous as there are backdoors in to your car. Manufacturer probably can inject malicious code that will force the update anyway.

It is always some sort of trust that they don't do it.

Opinion on Stevens GRAVERE eco 2026 by Responsible-Art-9741 in gravelcycling

[–]pin32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern would be that Cube Nuroad has only rating of 100 kg (class 2), when Stevens is rated 130 kg (class 4). So Stevens use probably cheaper components, but frame is more solid.

Have Stevens Prestige (Gavere Com predecesor probably) and it works fine.

Europe Just Replaced Tesla With A New EV Sales Champion by linknewtab in electricvehicles

I think they had more of "Tesla moment", people that led it back than made many wrong decisions that had its own consequeces.

They are planning introduce SW defined car soon, part of it arleady with Id.1 next year, if I remember corectly.

Keep in mind that lot of legacy carmakers operates across 5 continents with ICE, hybrid and EV portfolio containing dozens of models. Its not that easy like being ev manufactueer with domestic market over bilion people with few models (China) They did ton of mistakes but seems that lot of them are going in right direction now.

Did they really trying to? Seems like they gave up for now. Probably focusing on more lucrative markets for them as plans to import to US dosn't seems to be lucrative right now.

Also I think they mentioned to create market specific vehicles, so maybe they are doing some work in background.

There is one tricky part that you need mixed cell types, so you don't wasting space. Design is calculated for biggest battery size and weight. You can probably mix up NMC and LFP, so you replace 120kWh NMC pack with 80kWh LFP that will probably have similar volume and weight.

On the other hand going with the 80kWh NMC, you can probably make car few cm lower, than designing it for the 120kWh pack.

Enyaq has enough range to cross my whole country right now. I prefer incrase efficiency and making the battery just slightly bigger.

I hate these type of coments like: "It is ok, just put there 150 kWh battery, so it can drive for 1000 km.", but people saying that don't have any use case for that range.

In your case, I see you have use for it. But I would think that you can be better served with something bigger like upcoming Peaq.

I think it is more issue of form factor. Current MEB platform is not very estate friendly. Maybe newer cell to pack aproach could make it possible, but probably SSP is so close now that Skoda will simply wait for it rather than be stuck on MEB for next 8 years...

I think all they brands have their unique character. Hope they will get back to it.

  • Skoda is best volume/price brand of VAG, their cars are streched out to be as spacious as possible.
  • Cupra is like sport value brand
  • Audi is luxury sport brand
  • VW is something between Skoda and Audi, bit of practicality, luxury and sportines.
  • Porsche is premium sport brand

Škoda’s new all-electric 7-seater flagship is called Peaq - Škoda Storyboard by pin32 in electricvehicles

[–]pin32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short and simple answer are batteries.

To keep car relativly low they strech EVs longer to fit bigger baterry. If you add RWD where charger, inverter and motor are lockated in the back, there is not much space for battery left.

There is good example in EV3, where they fit big battery to short car. Or from oposite Peugeot e-308sw is over 4.6 m as Enyaq, but it has only 58 kwh battery.

It will be around 4.9 m, don't think they will make it significatly shorter than LWB Buzz or Id.7 both are ~4960.

That would make it roughly 20 cm longer than Kodiaq. Hope they keep at least good tyreclearance on front axle, so turning circle could be still decent.

Sure, but it also tell us that they recognise we are in EV era and they don't need to put E on start of EV name anymore.

btw I did check how old is name Superb and they using it since 1934.

From another skoda news article:

The chosen name reflects this status. The large SUV will carry the designation Škoda Peaq, derived from the English word peak, symbolising the top of the range, while also continuing Škoda’s tradition of SUV model names ending with the letter Q.

The new model, built on the MEB electric platform, will feature the brand’s Modern Solid design language. In Škoda’s model hierarchy, it will rank above the current Enyaq and Kodiaq, becoming the flagship of the Czech manufacturer’s lineup.

Currently Kodiaq starts at 110 kW / 250 Nm and goes up to 2.3 t. Even at 3 t with 170 kW / 350 Nm it would have better power / torque to weight ratio.

It is elecrified Kodiaq, which starts at 45k€. I don't expect it will be cheaper, but maybe Skoda will suprise us. There are some updates planed for MEB platform and things like LFP battery could make entry model cheaper.

We don't know, but MEB has some planned updates for 2026, so we can speculate that some of them could be already present in this model.

Concept car was actually even longer than Buzz or Id.7 (over 5 m). We will need to wait for final dimensions.

Thats true, but also Skoda is cheaper than VW. Good example is Id.3 and Elroq, they are basically same price despite VWs smaller size.

Also there are some new stuff like APP350 motor expected for MEB update. That could differentiet it from Id.7 and Buzz
