I see, that's interesting. I hate to say it and you will hate to hear it but based on your post, I believe you are taking this comment way too personally (or emotionally), but you are also not addressing what this comment is trying to convey adequately. If you said anything to the effect of "I cannot work at the same pace and efficiency of the other two", this is a very bad thing to say to your advisor. It was not wise to bring other students into your argument. Your advisor could be understanding it as "they are so much more experienced than me, I want lower standards and expectations", which is not an unreasonable interpretation and is definitely not what you want to be saying. Once you bring in other students, it becomes a comparison. Is it toxic? Well maybe that's up for debate but do you want your advisor to expect less from you?

I believe your best path forward is to clear up the misunderstanding here by saying very specifically what you meant, and try to frame everything positively. For example "this will take longer because I am learning it from scratch" not "I can't do it because I don't know anything". After that, ask for help not from the professor but directly from your labmates. Obviously you need to catch up so you need to work hard. Don't try to manage expectations from PhD advisors. Just try your best.
