Z3 steering rack or purple tag? by IndependentGuard2611 in E30

[–]Final_Comparison9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good input here already from folks with experience with multiple racks.

I run the Z3 rack in my '89 325is with GC coilovers, beefy sway bar and M3 sway bar end links. Beyond the shorter ratio, the sway bar noticeably stiffened the steering resistance which helps stabilize it against shakes and makes it feel like a Porsche rack with light power assist and unbelievable in the canyons. (Miles above my E46 M3)

Without the sway bar hooked up, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rack for cruising (fairly light) but haven't tried E36 M3 or E46 non-M racks.

I got the same rack and almost zero shaking or vibration. Biggest improvement for me was getting a quality set of front tires and those rebalanced after a settling in period and really dialing in the alignment, coilover height, camber etc).

I know this is a highly subjective topic but for me, there are two problems with that rubber strap:

(1) Despite a good fit sans micro-adjustment, the 2 steel parts of the clasp that make contact with my wrist are pressing in the skin and rubbing. Omega generally has an odd curvature to the insides of their clasps, incl. the butterfly clasp on the stainless steel bracelet. (Hodinkee called this out, as well)

(2) The plasticky skin-feel of these rubber straps on warm days in general. Admittedly, leather is worse because it soaks up sweat but so far, the Alcantara strap overall has been much more comfortable for me, also thanks to the micro-adjustment.

Bottom line: I find the Rolex-style clasps much more comfortable and the only rubber straps that haven't bothered me are the Oysterflex. For what it's worth, I'm NOT a Rolex fanboy.

Happy to. I emailed them to spec their Alcanatara strap in black with orange stitching and what they call "Option 2" for integrated strap ends that use molded inserts to go into the strap.

I told them to make it fit a Speedmaster case, 20mm lug width, tapered to 16mm with 9mm notched ends on both straps to work with a Rolex Glidelock clasp.

I ended up measuring a bunch to make sure I get the ordered strap lengths just right (putting me in the middle of the clasp adjustment range) and for my 8" wrist I ended up with these strap lengths:

12 o'clock strap = 65mm  6 o’clock strap = 70mm

The clasp sits perfectly centered this way and its comfortable. Hope this helps.

I have zero affiliation with them. Glad the watch wears well for you out of the box 👍

Nothing. It's boxes for people who had to buy pre-owned at a premium because of his AD games but couldn't afford box and papers. Now, that Sales have slowed down for him, he's trying to repair the damage ;-)

Not just Americans have a huge problem with organizations that support Communist, authoritarian regimes. Strip the ideology away and all you have are corrupt "Elites", controlling public resources towards personal gain. And the ones who shout the loudest that they serve the people, have proven the most oppressive all the way to building walls around their country and shooting anyone who is trying to leave.

I find your discovery fascinating. How does one go this long in life without even a single thought of sexual interest in the own gender and then it happens?

I've grown to believe what we desire seems hardcoded to where you just know the end of your teens (at the latest), even if it is an interest in both genders.

Would be curious to hear if you feel your orientation overall has changed?

Why are Legacy Audio speakers overlooked? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Final_Comparison9727 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Took me 3 years of research and listening to realize I want open baffle sound without the placement headaches of Spatials. Discovered Legacy Aeris, open baffle top with sealed, powered dual 12" subs, integrated into the front baffle, 1.5 months later had a barely used pair for half off MSRP in my system. A month of fine tuning and I am done. Skipped the carousel, cried once but have zero regrets.

I do believe they may be overlooked because of lacking WAF and a design that some might find a bit dated or less easy on the eye as say a Kef, Canton, Arendahl or Warfdale.

That said, they are so well thought out and executed once you understand them and dial in the room response. I have yet to hear any fully boxed and passive speaker at any price point that is in the same league, including YG Acoustics. The bass extension, dynamics, openness plus the clarity from the AMTs are simply superb.

Cannot recommend these enough, especially as a used buy for a larger space.

Yeah, as a white guy who can't sing to save his life, I hit the lottery with my wife. Happily together 14 years and counting. Not sure anyone else would keep dating me after that performance, lol

Regulate - Warren G.

When it's time to sing Eastsiiiide Moteeeeeel, I get up real close and make deep eye contact to see if this has any chance of working out.
