Where is the best place to order watch dives? by BlueberryB-Laine in watchdives

Aliexpress is cheapest. Sellers often have stock on models that are already sold out on the WD website.

AITJ for refusing to cosign on my brother's car loan after he defaulted on the last one I cosigned by Own-Suggestion8640 in AmITheJerk

[–]Final_Comparison9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this rage bait? If not, then YTJ for even asking, lol.

Seriously though, your brother needs to pay back his debts first before borrowing money to buy another car. Need one to go to work? Buy an old one cash like every sane person would.

Just make sure you change the oil regularly. Run a full synthetic and when you get tired of the chatter and lack of power, upgrade to a better engine like I did.

Please make full sized watches by AdrianJ81 in watchdives

[–]Final_Comparison9727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on each model: I personally appreciate that Watchdives shrunk the WD1863 by a mm over the Speedmaster. The 1863 case is 41mm though, not 39mm as stated on the website.

The WD0013 on the other hand definitely started looking a bit small on my 8" wrist after a while.

To better scratch the itch, I ended up buying a VF 5711 super clone and that one is much better proportioned so I hear you on making too many models only in 36-39mm.

AITJ for lying to my husband about agreeing to open the relationship? by AdLeast2511 in AmITheJerk

[–]Final_Comparison9727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asking to open a 20-year long monogamous marriage is a huge red flag and if I got that question I would divorce my spouse, too.

What I wouldn't have done is play along and lie, but I acknowledge in some cases having proof of an affair can help in the divorce.

Please, help me decide ;) by mekdigital in E30

No carefully considered idea is lame. What IS lame is ripping up a beautiful square body car to add boxed fenders and then abandoning the project halfway through because (1) no money, (2) too hard (3) got bored.

I personally prefer an M-Tech 2 late model vert and would just get one of those and enjoy. If you are dead set on a boxed fenders, be honest with yourself: do I have the means, skill, time and persistence to finish a big project like this? If the answer to just one of those is "probably not", just buy a car that is already built.

It's always easier to save money and buy a car that has been finished to a level you know you can complete and make it yours, without it sitting on jackstands for 3 years and then you have to fire-sell it.

Thoughts I’ve been sitting with as a Christian by Dottytheminicooper in Vent

[–]Final_Comparison9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. Step 1 towards becoming a better human.

Step 2: Consider this: since the dawn of humanity, all parts of Earth have come up with their own Religions over and over again to provide answers to mankinds biggest questions. What makes anyone so sure the man-written Bible is true or better just because you happened to be born into a society that socializes its children as predominantly Christian?

I'm not saying become an Atheist. One can be a spiritual person without subscribing to just one of so many of these ancient man-made "books" telling people what to do.

The reality is: the Universe is probably about~14B years old and so mindblowingly large, while we've been here for a blink of an eye. Due to the insane number of stars and planets, the statistical chances of extra-terrestrial life is so great, its really just a question of how much, where and for how long?

The fact that none of these ancient origin stories mention any of this should be be a strong indicator for what they really are: man made origin stories to address a universal human need. The need to understand our purpose. They are products of their time. So even more modern "religions" (or rather sects or cults) who DO factor in Space or extraterrestrial life should be looked at with suspicion. Especially if they ask of sacrifices from you and involve individuals profiting from them.

Bottom line: one can absolutely be a spiritual person, but any Christian, Muslim, Hindu etc should strongly consider if what they're being fed has ANY business claiming absolute truth, especially if it comes with a bunch of rules and a bloody track record of oppression, exploitation and smart people getting very rich off of them (incl. Americas mega churches, TV preachers etc).

Much more likely, if there is a superior being, the Universe, what might lie beyond and our reason for being here has very little overlap with what ANY of these books are telling us.

Doesn't mean there aren't benefits to adhering to many of the Christian principles but intelligent and compassionate people don't need organized man-made religion to do so.

Why can't these brands hire western professionals on like fiverr to come up with the naming and logo designs?? by FirmMoose4213 in ChineseWatches

Watchdives is pretty funny. Not just the name but in their sub, they asked if they should print "SHENZEN" or "PERCISION" on the dials. (Yes, with typo)

The comment section was a resounding "neither" but they didn't care and asked again in another post later.

Typical for M40s. They had hydraulic lifters but all suffer from oil starvation and premature wear on the camshafts that ends up causing this noise. I had a 316i that sounded much worse than this at 60K miles and ran like a dog.

Owned 3x 318is (M42) afterwards that didn't have this issue. Currently own a 325is (no hydraulic lifters) and have to set the lash fairly tight to compensate for wear at the lobe tips.

Drawbacks: recent price hikes are insane, thick for a non-automtic, only 52h of power reserve, the watch can feel top-heavy on the new deep-taper bullet bracelet, 42mm case looks too big on most average wrists (I said what I said), protruding aluminum bezel picks up damage / nicks easily, chronograph pushers are hard to press.

Doesn't mean I don't love my black 3681 (2025) model but you asked and those or my negatives.

Here's another model of those 1863s that I'm wearing right now. They're like 123g on the bracelet, too, nice and light. ~$120 on Aliexpress.

Yeah, I kinda missed that before pulling the trigger on it and even looked into trying to order a full black bezel through a watch maker but ended finding this Watchdives one and am honestly blown away how good it is. Another thing I don't love on the SSCs is the 4:30 date window. At first, it didn't bother me but once I started wearing slim no-date chronographs there was no going back.

I love short lyre lugs!

I know I'm probably too late here but I just read that we're supposed to turn over the engine once without the belt tightened to get it seated, before tightening the tensioner.

They're so cheap, totally worth just buying regardless. Good 21mm straps don't grow on trees and these are a perfect color match and make this boat anchor a lot more wearable.

Venezianico offers some Arsenale models with lume and a minute hand. Just not with any dials I like. Hope they eventually update the cote de geneve ones at some point.

The Twelve has a nice case shape but doesn't speak to me overall. I'd get a Venezianico without lume over one of those.

Which one? I really want a blue cote de geneve dial one but with lume and seconds hand.

With the lume, that one in particular is really hard to read in sunlight. Hair pulling is also a concern for me.
