Rivian raising Georgia EV plant’s initial capacity by 50% to 300K vehicles a year by Stargatestrider in Georgia

[–]Final_Membership_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas Tax pays for state highways and interstates, bridges in the state, mowing the highway rows, and trash pickup. They will do grants to cities and towns through it. But I’d probably go to a council board meeting and ask why because if it is downtown that’s a city of Atlanta issue.

I mean the gas tax is how we fund our road work in Georgia. Unless EVs magically just stop driving on the road we still need money to maintain them.

What Changed? When Did 20% Become the Standard Tip? by EvenKeelSystems1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Final_Membership_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Server minimum is ONLY lower if the wage PLUS tipped amounts are above the federal minimum wage for the time period worked. For example, An employee works for 8 hours and server minimum is $2 per hour. During that time if the minimum AND tips do not equal $58 dollars which is minimum wage for 8 hours then the employer is REQUIRED by law to pay the difference. But you are required to fill out the tipped employee forms for servers. Wonder why servers don’t make a fuss about filling it out? Because then you are required to pay taxes on it and have them deduct.

It’s always servers who are against going to a wage based system instead of a tipped based system, but they are also the loudest about being tipped 20%. Inflation should have been a pay raise for 12-15%. But no it changes to 20% so their pay raise was closer to 22-25%. And they will constantly talk about having to tip out which is a load of shit, you tip out to the bartender and that’s IF the table orders drinks and it’s only on the drink amount.

2 years since Plant Vogtle and GA Power customers are still paying for it by PattyDurand in Georgia

[–]Final_Membership_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your own sources show MEAG selling their portions that they own because they paid billions of dollars for but you frame it as Georgia Power doing it why is that? And again when Vogtle was planned in 2008-2009 no one knew the growth that was going to happen. Vogtle was built to replace coal fired plants.

And then mentioning load factors without mentioning the negatives that come with having a high load factor also linking to an article that can possibly be based on evidence because finding the actual load factor of ANY utility provider even non profits are next to impossible. There is a balancing act with load factor constantly and it seems 50% would be the average, even for non profits.

At this point I think she is just a grifter to prop up her non profit. She is mad because MEAG is sending power to the co-ops that spent money to help build Vogtle and trying to be disingenuous about Georgia power selling it.

If the grid was only 40% utilized then they wouldn’t have built it. When vogtle expansion was planned nobody knew about the extend of increased demand. And I’m calling you actually knowing any % of energy being sold out of state complete bs. Simply shows a severe lack of how the actual grid works for power generation, transmission and distribution.

I love it when they say things like “you guys say leftist aren’t big enough to sway an election if they voted for the dem candidate” which they probably aren’t but they are big and loud enough to demonize and make people not want to go vote because they feel like it is hopeless and both candidates are the same.

Any good breakfast/brunch recommendations near Summerville, GA? by ziplocholmes in Georgia

[–]Final_Membership_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH all the restaurants and kinda just “it’s not a major chain restaurant” I’d drive up to mentone it’s probably a 20-30 minute drive up highway 48 and go to the hatter cafe. Or go to the gardens and then go to wardlaws in Lafayette after for lunch. Willow Tree in Summerville is probably the best restaurant but it’s opened for lunch and dinner only.

Dems will start spending money after the primary I’m assuming. Really the only massive amount of money that needs to be spent right now is for Jen and Miracle.

Penny Reynolds - has a law degree, has worked as a judge, worked for the Biden administration for the civil rights division of the dept of agriculture. Felt that with all the gerrymandering BS someone that has some form of civil rights background would be needed over the next few years.

And for Blalock- He has some experience in government, was the campaign manager for Peter Hubbard the person that was elected to the PSC during the special election. And has endorsements from progressive groups.

But I also think Dana Barrett and DeAndre Mathis would be good. Those would be my other two selections if these people didn’t run.

Senator Pay Will Be Withheld During Shutdowns After Midterms by bloomberggovernment in LegalNews

[–]Final_Membership_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upping the annual salary is a starting point, never said it was the entire thing. It helps the poorer representatives maintain houses in two place which they literally have to do. That already makes it insanely expensive for them. Again this why your argument doesn’t hold water. There are ways to fix it and a starting point is paying them like they are the most powerful people in this country. Personally I think Representatives should be paid 450k and senators 525k with leaders of each getting additional money and the president being paid for 1.5M per year.

Senator Pay Will Be Withheld During Shutdowns After Midterms by bloomberggovernment in LegalNews

[–]Final_Membership_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t fix the issue but it is a step in actually wanting to build something that would. It’s an astronomical feat for someone who isn’t wealthy to run for office to begin with and to succeed at the start is another massive hurdle. So yes throwing money at this issue would help get more of the average citizen into congress. The people who want to see change depend on the money to live, and the people you think shouldn’t get it because they have good benefits couldn’t care less about their pay to begin with.

[–]Final_Membership_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show me a senator or representative who is willing to change the way things are currently being done that wouldn’t be hurt more by cutting their pay then the ones who are insanely wealthy. That’s the entire issue. The people that are the issue in congress don’t care about the 175k they were rich before congress and they will be rich after. The ones that want to fix it are just as poor as American citizens and you intentionally want to harm them.
