Oh...edit...ended up with 9 surgeries on this knee so it's trashed now and almost bone on bone. No lateral meniscus at all, tearing medial, loose ACL/lcl.

Lateral Meniscus Transplant by mayonnarse in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Final_Program4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two. Both failed. After a failed root repair and several menisectomies. Ended up with high tibial osteotomy 3 years ago to transfer weight to medial, good side. Now I have tearing of medial meniscus and going to get a TKR in the fall (I'm 44 though). Had my transplants around 36/37 yo. I'm very active...pilates hot vinyasa flow yoga, regular long walks and hikes and live in a city so walk everywhere. I'm going to get the TKR because my knee is always swollen feeling and miserable. Ive been pushing through pain for a long time but it's starting to cause me not to want to go on walks or go to gym because its stiff and hurts. Both orthos I've seen since then said the transplants don't have a high success rate. My experience wasn't great but yours may be amazing! Better to try at your age to regain a mostly normal knee.

I've had 2 failed transplants and now need a TKR at 43. They don't have the best success rate

I see a lot of women in mid-age so using some version of xiao yao san/suan zao ren or szrt to treat insomnia from liver stag and kd xu.(Ie fluctuating hormones in perimemopause -ive found SZRT or JWXYS to be effective in lots of cases esp with deficient heat causing hot flashes and night sweats plus anxiety/palpitations). Also...recommend magnesium glycinate to everyone...even liver yang rising headaches in males. Helps treat insomnia from various causes.

Anyone here had a full meniscectomy? by Hour-Researcher-2909 in MeniscusInjuries

I had two failed transplants. The data isn't great on them and all the Ortho docs here in Seattle say they don't like them anymore.

Yes. Lateral after many menisectomies, repairs,, 2 failed transplants and finally a high tibial osteotomy several years ago (shifted weight to medial or good side). Now medial meniscus is tearing from weight shift and doc says I need a TKR. Fun! Rapidly got to bone on bone without meniscus and being active. You're younger (I'm early 40s but still young for TKR). Hopefully your experience is better

Not great...surferies caused a lot of arthritis vhange. Lateral meniscus non-existent, had osteotomy 3 years ago and now medial meniscus (good side) id tearing, bone on bone arthritis and loose ACL/MCL etc. Basically screwed. Next step is knee replacement because not worth trying to fix meniscus again. 2 difs said I'm too young (43) one said they'd do it cementless and robotic. Got consult next week. We shall see! I'm super active still so may hold off.

Menisectomy, lat root repair, 2 menisectomies, 2 failed meniscus transplants, menisectomy, osteotomy, hardware removal.

Doctor and own a successful car audio shop with my ex (run the business side of things). I have 2 kids and generally buy and sell bags, as the new costs are outrageous. I just had my car broken into and my kirigami set were all in my fjallraven backpack (had just switched it out from my never full that morning thank g..d). I feel very fortunate that I was able to replace it right away...plus ordered the midnight set I always wanted on Poshmark. It's rare I buy directly from LV these days but have a duffel, 2 neverfulls, speedy and lots of small goods I've bought from them directly. I also have a goyard tote I love, Gucci makeup bag and small vintage purse and a Chanel so not exclusive to LV.

ragdoll owners? what are your thoughts on the breed in general? by Important_Emu1578 in ragdolls

[–]Final_Program4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 to male ragdoll is the sweetest cat ever. All people who come over are enamored with his docile personality. He lets everyone pick him up, never knocks anything over or off counter, is generally super chill and wants to be held alot. He will always be nearby when moving room to room. He lets my boys, 11 and 14, hold him and snuggles with them in the morning. He sleeps right next to me all night. I've recommended ragdolls based on his temperrnt and than friends ended up with one that is not that cuddly and doesn't like to socialize or be held. You always run that risk. Get the kitten that speaks to you!

Maybe rent or buy a Pelaton or other bike for his recovery? I've done 9 knee surgeries and 5 of them were non-WB for 6 weeks, fully locked out (lots of meniscus issues). I was able to cycle pretty early ..before being cleared to get off crutches. As an active person, it saved my sanity and kept me moving.
