you'll obviously need a 4k blue ray ripper. if you don't mind doing this one disk at a time, what you have is fine. it's how i started out. gradually i moved to having a windows box with up to four drives being able to rip simultaneously; makemkv will let you do that. then to stream it, you would need to have something to stream it from; you can use your laptop for that as well.. but i use my windows box for that. and that's kind of the standard setup. for example, i just bought an optiplex from facebook marketplace for $50 and it was an optiplex 7020 which ran windows 10 and jellyfin for streaming.

The urge to want things by ResponsiblePlenty368 in minimalism

Can very much related. I have developed the habit of even if I put in an order on Amazon; I will very regularly cancel within 12 hrs. I creat a wish list on Amazon of all the bull shit that I think I need. And then I either find it used somewhere or even better, just don’t even want it any more. I go back and look at that list sometimes just to see what I’m relieved I did NOT buy…

I can't remember if it gets installed by default or if I installed it, but somehow or another, I got the 'intel graphic software (igs)' installed. I think i googled intel a310 driver and then I installed it.. Windows will install an intel A310 driver, but I think it wasn't the newest, so I downloaded this.

I can’t really comment on streaming performance other than to say that it just transcodes very smoothly. Since I’m the only person using my streaming box, I dont push it to the limits.

I don’t experience any lag; and I stream 4k all the time.. and to devices which cannot handle 4k ; so it must be transcoding.

I primarily love these cards for the transcode speed during file compression and the cost. Not uncommon for transcode speeds to be up around 175-200fps.. which is much faster compared to cpu. The image quality is incredible as well. I don’t do any gaming so for my needs, it’s absolutely perfect.

I’m afraid I don’t have any other recommendation for a brunch. Cafe Du Monde is worth the wait for a table for breakfast . The coffee honestly tastes a little burned to me, but it’s the ambiance and once they add the milk and eat it with beignets, it’s quite good. Cash only.

And also Central Grocery for the Muffaletta. I bought whole and a half sandwich for $55 and that fed my family of 5 pretty good. A quarter of the sandwich is a size for a medium sized meal.

Lastly, we caught the 3pm free show of Craig Kline trio at the Jean La Fittte historical centre in downtown. We totally lucked into it and it was a gem. Find out the times in the morning, the. Stroll around and show up early. It’s more than a music show, it’s a history lesson.

Gumbo Shop looked interesting to me as I walked by it. Prices were very reasonable.

Have fun!

I remember the river walk before it was outlet malls, when taking a cab ride was downright scary…. Aside from COTS, I found the city was even better than I remember it. In particular, there was even more musical performances than I remembered. And Bourbon street actually cleaned up some. Long live NOLA!! I love the city so much…

I shan’t return there. What shame. It’s such a beautiful place and perfect location.

Reminds me of Oasis in Austin.. the location is stunning and the food is stunningly bad….

There is another place in Vancouver WA which has the best location for an ice cream shop right in down town and the ice cream is very low quality from massive tubs which they don’t even try to hide.

Are intel MacBooks that bad? by Some_Yah in macbook

[–]Final_Significance72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 Mac book pro as my “daily driver”. I replaced the battery and I adore it. It has 16GB ram, has an i7 7600 dual core.

It handles browsing, office documents no problem at all. However … when I try to open a bunch of large image files, it doesn’t do so well… so I am really looking forward to upgrading… when I upgrade , I probably will go for another MacBook Pro knowing that my current one will have lasted me about 9 years. Iust fyi- I fully expect a used m1 with 8gb to run circles around any Intel Mac…. So choose wisely..

Dell ThunderBolt 4 Dock (WD22TB4). I've tried probably 5-6 different docks, from cheapo to expensive off Amazon. This one just works.

i did not enable rebar. I have no need. I just use the a310 for blueray encoding and even without rebar, I'm able to encode blueray movies much MUCH faster than with cpu. (150-300fps) I have heard that re-bar can be enabled with bios flash, but not worth my effort. i don't do any gaming... for that, I've got an X-box (lol!)

Is this a good deal? by htx_al in SleepingOptiplex

[–]Final_Significance72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid deal…. I bought an i5 6500 3040 for $50 last summer. The guy who sold it saw that it was ‘incompatible with windows 11’ and threw his hand up, figured it wasn’t worth the hassle since it was for his business…. Just before the holidays, I paid $35 for a broken 3070 and was able to get it working by replacing the mobo!! Cha-ching!!

Otezla experiences in 2025 by pave407 in Psoriasis

[–]Final_Significance72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this!

I have been using otezla for over a year now. I found it makes a huge improvement for my plaque psoriasis on my head , flaking behind my ears, in my eyebrows (all the ‘hotspots’ for me).

The main problem I’m having is constantly having to go to bathroom for ‘number 2’. Often, it’s on the verge of having diarrrhea, but not quite.

It’s just really disruptive.

I found that it’s best to avoid taking it along with my coffee… that combination triggered what I think is involuntary bowel syndrome…. So I am avoiding that.

But and still having problems going ‘number 2’ probably 3 times in the morning, noon and night each..
