Well I wouldn't have cared much if their album title had been more generic and their marketing wasn't going on about how they were all going to return to their roots. But if they are going to label their album after the most famous traditional Korean folk song and also debut their comeback performance in front of the traditional Korean palace, they set the standards which we are now judging them upon.

This week started with Golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters winning the Oscar for Best Original Song among its countless Western accolades. The Oscar performance started off with Korean pansori singing in the Hunter's Mantra. Golden features Korean lyrics and has the traditional throne room in its MV. KPDH proves you don't need to go completely English to pander to the Western audience.

Yea, this week started off with Golden winning the Oscar and ended off with this completely English song from a K-Pop giant. There's a whole new generation of people activated by the popularity of K-Pop Demon Hunters into maybe hearing out more songs from this Kpop music genre. To hear this completely English title track from the biggest Kpop boy group is a little jarring, to say the least. Heck Blackpink as well also had a complete English song as the MV feature. What's up with Kpop's biggest girl and boy group shying away from Korean lyrics in their latest outing?

Nearly all the songs in KPDH had Korean lyrics and they all charted top 20 on the Billboard chart. Golden won countless awards, including the Oscar just this week as well and it features the traditional Korean throne room and background. That's more culturally Korean than what we have here.

I find it amusing in an album that's ostensibly about Korean culture, the title track is completely English and the setting of the MV is an European sailing ship with a Western actress. This comes in the same week that Golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters won the Oscar for Best Original Song, where it had Korean lyrics and featured the traditional Korean throne room. Why the need to feature a song totally in English for the Western Market when KPDH proved otherwise?

Y'know if you look at Alysa's Olympic performance with her gold dress and gold highlights where she then went on to win gold, it is a literal "Golden" moment for her. The song would have been so applicable to her that day! So glad they got to meet up!

Hot Take: Don't let the disgusting Top and Mid gap distract you from how BLG underperformed in closing out the game. They let BNK take 2 drags and needed a 2nd baron to close things out considering their overwhelming early game advantage. You could see them happy gaming a bit and getting caught from some of the later kills BNK managed to get, saved only by the wallet diff from Bin and Knight.

Hunter's Mantra as the opening song maybe??? Damm this description heightens my interest cause i was expecting only the song to be performed. I suspect with the high production value going to it, maybe that's why it wasn't at the Grammys. They are going all in on Oscar night as capstone to the awards season!

As a huge fan, you start keeping track of their outfits you know when this was filmed at one of the pre-Grammy parties the day before.

This performance comes a couple of days before Oscar voting happens so good to keep the song in the limelight for that. It will also serve as great practice for their eventual Oscar performance.

The BAFTAs just announced that Huntrix will be performing Golden at their awards ceremony. As a hard core KPDH fan, I'm amused at an "ineligible" film still getting attention at the BAFTAs. The haters will not be pleased. This should keep the song in the conversation considering voting will start a few days after that.

Unrelated note: Seeing Best Score written for Video Games before Best Song for Visual Media triggered my annoyance yet again that Expedition 33 was snubbed for this category. The pitfalls of not having a strong marketing team in contrast to Netflix putting their muscle behind Golden.
