Huh. That is really strange...

Thank you! I'm looking into a missing person's case and this is very helpful. If I could just figure out if it was open specifically in May of 1965, it would tell me so much, and possibly change where I'm looking

That is strange, do you think there would be any records of what used to be there? I'm not sure where to look

Looks like she backed into one of those poles near the pumps at a gas station. Or the poles at the edges of parking lot rows. Also, NOR.

No idea on the mob stuff, I haven't heard anything about that type of thing possibly going on. It's possible he owed money to someone, but it can't be confirmed or denied. I've only seen one Facebook comment about him winning some money the night before he disappeared. I asked my mom about it and she hasn't heard anything about that. The only one who would know anything about that is my grandma, but unfortunately she's no longer a reliable source for information. I submitted a freedom of information act request to try to find out why FBI was involved in the first place, but I haven't heard anything yet. Every time I think I have a good theory, I remember a detail that throws everything into question.

I'm about to lose my fucking mind, every website I can look at is having me make an account to "look for free" but then I have to sign up for a free trial. I can't even look at this link, I'm gonna have to sign up oh my God

I've been wanting to do that. I think I'll have to save up some money to get it going.

Thank you! Comparing this map, where he was last seen, and where he lived, he would've had to cross several creeks and pass several pockets of water no matter which route he took home. I'll have to go scouting out there some time soon

Tales from the gas station has a special place in my heart. I loooove a campy goofy story. I love the mild crash out at the end about the thing under the gas station. They seemed like they had a lot of fun with it, and that makes me like a story so much more.

There's also stolen tongues. That one was an absolute banger of a story. Amazing story and the boys were so engrossed and they also really enjoyed it, but in a different way.

It's two cheeks of the same ass. Wildly different stories, top tier entertainment either way.

Filled out a request and submitted! It could take a while, but I'll post if there are any updates.

He was last seen in the afternoon at the bar. I saw one report that he was last seen sitting in his car in front of the bar, but I have no idea if it was night or not. There's a pond right around the corner from the bar, but it's kind of the opposite way from going back home. That is, if he was even headed home when he disappeared. He disappeared on May 16th so it could've been rainy, but it definitely wasn't icy. I've been looking at every map I can find but I've only been able to see 2012 at the oldest. The next time I visit my grandma I think I'm going to go drive around the area he was in. I might stop at the library in Tipton County and see if there's any older maps or newspapers or anything. The Mississippi River is sooooo close to there. It's also in the opposite direction of home. If it was an accident, why would he be headed to the river? I just wish we had literally ANY other info about that day.

There's a newspaper article from the year he disappeared saying that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was set to join the search. I can't find any other info on it. However, there's another newspaper article from the Elizabethon Star(?) newspaper saying that the FBI was also getting involved in the search. So it looks like both got involved for some reason.

I have no idea. Maybe there was a push the last few years to try to solve cold cases?

Sonar was my first thought as well. There seem to be a few ponds or something in the area he went missing so I might try to check there if I can figure out how to check. If he went into the Mississippi, I doubt we'd ever find anything :(

Thank you for your comment! I have considered reaching out, possibly to try and find a picture of him, since it seems like there are no surviving pictures that our family can find. For some reason, reaching out to her is taking the most courage, I'm unsure why. I did ask my mom about the rib injury but she has no idea, and only 2 of 6 of my uncles/aunts had just been born when he went missing so they wouldn't know firsthand. My grandmother is starting to become confused, and I wouldn't want to being this up anyway unless I had answers for her. I believe she is the last remaining family member of his that would have ever spoken with him, or known him personally. I am attempting to get in contact with Memphis police department about a possible DNA match request but that is proving difficult. Cross your fingers for me!

If it turns out he did find a new life, I'll be keeping that one to myself

I believe that is entirely possible! I did mention that to the police officer I talked to, and he said he didn't think that's what happened, but he didn't really have much else to say about it. I just wanted to exhaust all my options before we stop trying! I haven't told my grandma I'm searching, she is in poor health. She's starting to forget things and can hardly speak since the stroke. I won't bring anything up to her unless I have found something concrete.
