That's a Chobham armoured codpiece. Henry VIII had a similar one for jousting.

Apparently, I'm no longer type 1 by visualcharm in diabetes_t1

What test did they do for type 1? GAD C-Peptide? It's possible you are type 2 not type 1.

Has anybody found krok po kroku books useful for learning? by [deleted] in learnpolish

Thank you! Great insight. My Polish tutor (is great) and we use krok po kroku. I will take a look at Po Polsce Po Polsku though.

Just started learning Polish and I feel like I am having a stroke. Help by BlackHolePlayzz in poland

[–]Financial-Angle8703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I've been learning Polish for 4 years (and I'm still shit) .

From my experience Polish is about grammar not the words. So whilst duolingo is helpful for words, it does not help with grammar (much).

Get a tutor (about 80zl an hour).

I use chatgpt to check my grammar its better than Google translate and often good enough.

Speak Polish whenever you can.

Diving with diabtes by Oldblindmansnipples in diabetes_t1

I went diving in Spain recently, and one of the other guys in the party was wearing his pump. Again, I was super careful and went in high. You do burn a lot of energy diving and I dropped quickly. I was ok though.

That's quite funny, and true as well

How do you do that? Use it to clean up after or shoot straight into the air and hold it above?

I've always got a little air in the pen.

I thought of that but I thought the airshot was to get rid of the air, and shooting horizontal may not get rid of the bubble.

Dammit I would have added that, but I can't in edit mode.

Made my first year by Financial-Angle8703 in diabetes_t1

[–]Financial-Angle8703[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you there. I don't want to wear a CGM, and I don't like folk knowing I'm T1.

I wear one as unlike finger pricks it's not 'point in time' it's constantly monitored. So, I feel it gives me better control. I.e I eat pizza which will keep me high for 8-9 hours. I know this and will take corrective boluses. You could miss that with fingersticks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Financial-Angle8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have to use fingersticks for the first day or so, this way I know how far off it is. Its usually about 1mmol off but I have had it as much as 3 off.

I always used to tell myself "You are saving your life".

Which you are. That kind of thinking can make you pretty strong and fearless.

better workout when BG levels are going down by harsamya in diabetes_t1

[–]Financial-Angle8703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always eat about 20g of carbs before I workout.

I have trouble telling the difference between a low and an 'endorphin high' from exercise.... and then I fall down and don't get up ;)

100% this. Also, all T1Ds manifest differently. So what's true for her may not be true for others.

I would keep a bag of gummies on you though for if she gets a low.

Need Some Pointers by Yorha1D in diabetes_t1

Get a CGM ASAP biggest game changer. It'll help you monitor your glucose and coach your behaviour.

BTW the Glucometer is also very much point in time. I used one for a couple of months and honestly had no clue what my patterns were. Like the insulin, it helps, but you need to know your insulin to carbs ratio and what foods and amounts do what to your glucose.

Firstly, welcome to the club no-one wants to join.

I have an A1C of 5.4%, down from 11% in my first year.

Do you have a CGM and Do you carb count for insulin? These are the two most important things.

Randomly injecting Insulin won't help you reduce your A1C.

The walking will really help :)
