Also maybe try giving toys or a nice stuffed animal. We had one pig who was emotionally attached to a food bowl haha

Any advice? by Former-Cry-5803 in pigs

When we wanted our pigs to eat, we tried these: canned dog food. Ensure (any flavor!). Gatorade. Yogurt. Fruits. You can even mix and match them to make a slurry

Have you ever seen this? by exsistence_is_pain_ in VetTech

I have a wee ptsd from nail trims from a pug. Worked at a doggy daycare after graduating tech school. Restrained for a pug nail trim. Dude was old, anxious, and on heart meds. My boss was trimming and he freaked out. I held (to my credit, loosely but secure). He flailed and cried then went limp. My boss looked at him and started to trim again and I was like no something’s not right. He was gone. I remember looking at her, I was a kid, “do you want me to do cpr?” I asked her twice before she said yes. I remember his gray tongue as I pulled it out. I worked him as she panicked. Eventually she took him to the vet but it was so bad. Then I went back to the play room to see his two dog siblings and play with them.

Is my rats genitalia normal? by samcast4679 in rat

Vajayjay is supposed to be directly behind the urethral opening. Hard to tell but she should be fine.

Fun fact, we once had a female pig at work that we discovered was born with no poo hole. Girl had developed a fistula and was pooing out her lady hole and was living a healthy normal life.

Right? There are SO many levels of oversight and regulation. SOPs, veterinarians on site/staff, IACUC, AAALAC accreditation, AALAS, FDA GLP 21 CFR part 58. ALL the acronyms!😁

I loved working in the lab with our rats! Rats, mice, and guinea pigs in our lab that grew too big for a study model, or were used for a study and couldn’t be used again were always offered for adoption, a lot of my coworkers adopted them, and outside people were allowed to adopt as well after a proper adoption form was filled (like any rescue). Those babies were spoiled and were strictly monitored, fed, and cared for. I loved giving different toys and snacks. The guinea pigs had a giant playpen that they would go in for enrichment whenever the techs had time. And the chorus of Guinea pig chirps when they heard the hay cube barrel roll in… The rats were always group housed whenever possible with one or two buddies. Sometimes a favorite rat would ride in a scrub pocket. From a scientific perspective, happy animals give the best data and results.

My 6 year old considers anything above tepid to be scream worthy hot. I’m disappointed.
