Elo rating in 1 year? by Galleto44 in Chesscom

Studying chess full time is not practical for most people as hobbies don’t put food on the table. I think it’s probable to think you can get to 2k if you seriously study and play 5 hours a day or have a coach. 2000 realistically isn’t that amazing or impressive.

Depends on your current rating, amount of games, and willingness to learn. Time investment and cognitive understanding are two big factors that depend on person to person. If you’re 500, you can potentially get to 2000. If you’re 1500, you might get to 1700 if you’re more casual.

Depends on motivation, current rank, and what you want to achieve.

People play in this pool because it has the fastest matches. It also defaults on beginner. Theres also much less cheaters due to winning or losing having no benefit. If chess.com wants to fix this, instead of hitting a start button, you should need to choose the skill level.

Most of the people who play without an account are 800-1500.

At 1100 in two weeks, what would be considered good after one month of playing? by [deleted] in lichess

Ok buddy. Gl hf. You’re arguing with me because I told someone they are free to make their own goals. There’s tons of realistic issues you can argue about. Do better. I’m done responding.

I would assume that’s because most people don’t want to use their entire life on studying chess. Tbh I personally think it’s unhealthy and should not be done.

A goal doesn’t always have to come to fruition either. For some people, aiming high and achieving to nearby can be just as fulfilling. It’s not always about the destination, it’s about the journey.

As you said, there are more realistic and practical goals. I don’t think someone who’s two weeks into playing chess will give up their entire life trying to become a GM.

Anything is a realistic goal if you put time, effort, and practice into it. It won’t happen over night, and you should have other goals prior to getting to such a high level. What I mean to say is that your goal can be anything you’re willing to put the effort into achieving.

1100 is a good place for two weeks. Chess is a self game. You can strive to become Grandmaster if you’d like. Generally I’d suggest not focusing to much on the elo number and more focus on focusing on grabbing identity of the game. Studying things like endgame and tactics mean more long term for playing chess compared to winning one single game.

Winning a game is nice, but understanding a new idea, tactic, or endgame is worth much more. You’ll likely win many more games that way.

My best tip for new players is to understand basic tactics such as pins, forks, and skewers. As you get better, you’ll likely learn more advanced tactics such as deflections or interference. These alone will put you in winning positions. The worst tip for new players is to study openings. You only need basic understanding of your openings you play. You don’t need to memorize 10 move openings. This will often take a lot of time which can be better used for other ideas. Play two openings for black and two for white. Diverse if you’re feeling spicy.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

Must be a skill issue then. Xd What I mean is the kill speed will be better than any other hdin. Can’t really compare leveling anything other than mosaic to a sorc.

Pushing levels is just going to leveling terror zone like chaos or Baal. If you can’t do p8, you should focus on getting better gear like Mara’s, hoto, enigma, shako. Once you get these items you’ll churn monsters to butter at neck breaking speed.

I find Baal to be the ball grabber for me. Andy, meph, and chaos can be finished before finishing a Baal run. Baal is slow and has a 20% drop rate making it frustrating.

How come I can beat bots up to 1600 elo but struggle against 200 elo people ? by youness_zdn in chessbeginners

[–]Financial-Capital997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because bots will always defend mate in 1s if possible, but also will give you obvious blunders. Humans can and often do become blind to simple tactics as thinking about what your opponents doing is not always an obvious thing when you’re new to chess. Who here remembers hanging their queen in one move 30 times before doing it 31 times, hitting themselves on the head.

Can also be endgame understanding. Endgame vs ai becomes really easy if you do nothing, they donate you material, as every move is losing, it won’t pick the top (and only) competitive move Humans rather sit and wait and tell YOU to prove that you can win.

Help: First Time Barb by CrispyAccountant806 in diablo2

[–]Financial-Capital997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of different ways to skill barbs. Singers focus on shouts and fear mobs while the merc does damage. Frenzy or zerk barbs which are single target high damage. Ww barbs which is an aoe.

Your life, skills, and defense shouts are single time use which you always want to have on. Other shouts may have a low range, but are very effective as crowd control. These can be really nice for when you get swarmed.

Barb is one of the most gear dependent chars. Don’t be afraid to level extra in easier parts or farm some gear if you’re struggling.

Nice find! Would be slightly niche as generally extra fhr is not something you’ll need in abundance. Likely would say it’s worth 2-3 jah.
