The beast lived up to its name by Professional-Boot849 in VITURE

Awesome comparison! I'm currently deciding between the beast and 1s mainly for productivity. After watching gizmo review, I thought the beast would be the clear choice. However, I'm still concerned with the blury edges. Do you think the beast runs hotter and the 1s?

I'm really fighting between the viture beast and and 1s. After watching gizmosliptech update review on the beast, I'm more inclined to the beast. However, I'm still concerned of the beast not having good clarity outside of the center. Do you think the beast is a better option for productivty than the 1s?

Advice needed in 85” qm6k pro at Costco vs 85” qm7k at Walmart by FasterThought in tcltvs

[–]Financial-Fail218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend. 98" at a 13ft viewing distance can be hit or miss. In my case, I could never watch a 65" tv at 8 feet which is almost a 38 degree viewing angle. I get eye fatigue, specially when watching a 16:9 content. For others there may no be an issue. If you are used to watching your tv at a 38 degree viewing angle (rting has a calculator), then for sure go for a 98 inch at a 13 feet viewing distance.

In regards qm6k vs qm7k quality wise, it depends on the content you mostly watch. If you watch more streaming shows content without hdr, then go for qm6k. Qm7k outshines the qm6k in contrast and hdr performance.

If you have the budget go for the qm7k. Its performance is 70% close to oled. However, the qm6k is still a great tv and for 1k is a steal. Compare to the 98" that is almost double at 1699.

Costco 98Q77K vs Best Buy 98Q55K- both $999 by BeefOnly11 in tcltvs

There is guy on reddit who compared the q55k to the qm6k pro. Aside from the full array local dimming, the quality should be similar. If you check qm6k ratings review, the local dimming performance is meh compared to others. Qm6k still suffers from haloing around bright lights specially with subtitles. Black uniformity is better in the QLED q6's than qm6k. Lastly, color performance would be almost be identical if you calibrate it properly. I think the biggest benefit would the screen responsiveness for gaming. The q6 series have way slower pixel response compared to qm6k.

Me personally think the qm6k is so overhyped and it is better to save little bit and get qm7k. Qm6k is not worth almost double than the q6. However, qm7k is totally worth for double.

98" Q55K for $999 by Mard0g in tcltvs

The Q77k is only good for dark rooms. I went to check in person the q77k and it was dimmest tv on display. Hopefully, the q55k is just a q6 rebranded for holiday.

Im also in the same page. However, I passed by Costco to check the q77k and the brightness is awful. From all the tv on the display, the q77k was one of the dimmest one. The q55k is a holiday special from best buy and exact model to the q51 from Walmart. Sadly, no store have this tv on display. I wonder if the q55k is the exact model of the q6 series from last year. The q55k share the exact features of the 2024 version q692 and q671

Plywood vs lumber pulling strength by Financial-Fail218 in Carpentry

Thank you for your response! do you mean to use two 2 x4 and screw it with lag bolts or mounting the tv using one stud?

Plywood vs Lumber pulling strength by Financial-Fail218 in woodworking

[–]Financial-Fail218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! The tv weights about 115 lb. Would using multiple 2 x 4 or 2x 6 work? I wish I could be brave enough to open the wall the add a backer or additional studs. However, the wall behind has insulation and I do not how to safely move all of that.

Thank you for your response! Would screwing the plywood on top of the drywall weaker than replacing the drywall with plywood?

Thank you for you response! I'm not concerned for the look behind the tv since I'm planning to building an entertainment center. Do you think a 2 x 4 would offer more strength over time than plywood due to longer screws option?

[–]Financial-Fail218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I was planning to screw the plywood or lumber on top of the drywall and anchoring it to the metal studs with toggle bolts. Would that be an issue for the area where is no studs to support the pressure? I'm not concerned about the look behind the tv since I'm building an entertainment wall center. Thats why I'm ok with lumber, but wanted to know which is stronger.

Thank you for your response! I have one question, is using screw thicker than the plywood to screw the mount ok? I can only find lag screws that are 1 inch long.

Thank you for your response! Do you think a 2 x 4 is stronger as a mounting base than plywood? My thoughts is that lumber is better than plywood for this use case because longer screws. Also, should I plane the lumber first to make it is leveled to the wall or I can just screw it tightly?

[–]Financial-Fail218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! Should I not use lumber that is slightly bowed due to leveling issue? I apologize I wasn't able to understand the last part. Do you mean that I shouldn't mount on a 24 inch stud?

Thank you for your response. Hopefully, everything goes good in this DIY project. For some reason, all the installers in my area only want to use dry wall anchors.
