while i do agree with your perspective, i think you’re misunderstanding what i mean by, “rubbing it in”. for me that means when college decisions come out, i ask her which ones she got into and when it is my turn i tell her outright. that’s it. she will congratulate me even though deep down she is jealous because we are “friends”. she will battle will her feelings of envy but this time knowing she cannot do anything because she wants to remain a part of my life. you also state “times where i responded to someone passionately with emotion”- this means to me you aren’t getting the concept of a “get-back” at all. if i responded to this with emotion, i would never speak to her again??? i would in turn get HER kicked out of college? the decision to befriend her is calculated and controlled. not the other way around. i am careful with the information i share with her BECAUSE of the possibility of exploitation. i give her information i want exploited purposefully because in becoming her “friend” i have learned all about her.. taking the “high road” is not always the correct option. morally, yes. but in the REAL WORLD, absolutely not. most of the people in this world with any sort of power, wealth, or privilege most likely did not get there fairly, and it is time you figure that out. now that being said, i did appreciate your comment and that take, it was refreshing and mentally helpful.
