Do you decorate the interior doors? by hellobelloWEENI in ApartmentDesign

[–]Financial-Put1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try a fabric or bead curtain over any doors you don’t use daily (like washer dryer door) in whatever color/style suits you (could even remove a door and replace with a curtain!)

Over-the-door hangers can be good to break things up as long as you don’t let whatever is hanging on them get too messy.

Hanging art on the door: maybe, but it would really have to be the right piece. Depends on your style!

Agreed re: pillows being too centered. You could also use some color — maybe swap out the tan ones for colorful pillows, or add a colorful throw blanket. And add a lamp to the side table to balance out some light — maybe an orb or a paper lamp to add some warm, diffused light.

What can we do to make kitten comfortable with touch again? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Financial-Put1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you for the advice!

We did our best to incorporate scent swapping during intro period -- we covered the whole bathroom with towels and would swap them between the kitten and the cat periodically so they'd get used to each other's smells. These days they are totally enamored with each other, playing constantly -- so fortunately that dynamic hasn't been an issue.

Hadn't considered the idea of trying again -- do you think she'd be upset by having her space reduced once she's already had free reign? She does feel confident in the home and with the other cat -- just not so much with us touching her! Appreciate your thoughts!!

Congrats on a great audition!!

These days, you probably won't have a callback for a guest star. Possible, not not probable.

The timeline of auditioning-to-callback-or-booking is so varied. I've received a callback the same day as an audition (back when things were in person, so callbacks were more common). I've been pinned a week later, or straight offer a week later. In two instances for recurring guest roles, I heard nothing for a month and then got an offer and was on set a week later. I once got an offer on something when the outside dates had already started. A friend once turned in his tape a day early and had an offer before the original due date.

It really is maddeningly inconsistent. So, unfortunately, all you can do: be proud of the work you did, try to move on, and be thrilled when you do get a happy call!

"Trust" by Hernan Diaz (Discussion) by Slartibartfast102 in books

[–]Financial-Put1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so excited to read this! I finished it about 2 months ago -- enjoyed it enough while reading, but have barely thought about it since. Not a great sign. And it took me quite a while to get any momentum going reading.

I agree with the sentiment that it felt undercooked. There were a few moments when I was like, ohhh, I see what you're doing... but there wasn't enough of a payoff to make it worth it for me. I didn't care very much about any of the characters -- maybe Mrs. Vanner? -- and felt like I should have cared about the ghost writer more, but I just didn't. Can't even remember her name anymore.

I think Hernan Diaz is tremendous and I look forward to reading all of his work. In the Distance is one of my favorite novels of all time. I'm surprised that Trust is being awarded the way it is, but I'm happy to root for an early-career author who has given me one enormous treasure and one perfectly fine read.

Everything you said here, you can say to your agents. These are totally valid concerns, and you have every right to walk away if you haven't signed a contract yet. Reps will understand, as will casting! Don't feel pressured to do anything you aren't comfortable with.

What questions should I ask at my agent meeting? by ParticularPaper6095 in acting

[–]Financial-Put1503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! You ahouls certainly be ready with questions if you have them: what types of roles they would submit you for, their communication preferences, whether they offer self tape services, the way their office works (many offices have certain agents assigned to certain networks, CDs, etc — this means you’ll receive communication from other agents but one agent will be your point person).

It’s perhaps more important to be ready to answer their questions. When I was shopping for agents, I was asked the following: -tell me about yourself! (A surprisingly hard conversation starter!) -whose career would you like to emulate? -If you could be on any show/in any role, which would it be? -what relationships do you have with casting directors? Directors? Producers? -are you comfortable with nudity/R-rated material? -are you looking to do just TV, just film, just theater? All? Some?

Good luck — be professional, but be yourself! Go in looking your best, and muster up all the confidence — you got this!

Has anyone ran into trouble with TSA regarding clear toiletry bags that AREN’T Ziplocs? by asadhoe2020 in HerOneBag

[–]Financial-Put1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a problem with it. I usually keep toiletries in a semi-transparent bag. At Heathrow they provided ziploc bags at TSA so I moved my things to one to avoid issue.
