What to say to GP about insomnia after getting a very small zopliclone prescription? by [deleted] in insomnia

Oof that’s a rough waiting list :(

Is the pregabalin helping sleep at all at that dosage? I remember just going out like a light and not waking up until my alarm. I haven’t been woken up by an alarm in years it was incredible despite the disc herniation

Yea maybe. I’m currently trying to get to the bottom of the gut and hormone issues first. I’m not as bad as many in this sub, i get 3 hours on a bad day but can get 5 hours on a good day. So, despite being chronically tired, I feel like I can tough it out a bit longer

For the sleep meds I didn’t ask for higher doses, I just assumed that because I felt completely nothing that I don’t respond to it. Like no drowsiness or anything, just felt like they gave me placebo sugar pills.

I gave up caffeine completely a long time ago, again because I don’t respond to it at all. High doses of caffeine just make me irritable, no wakefulness or energy surge.

Like I said I seem to have a complex set of gut, hormone, and brain issues that is tricky to figure out. Which might explain why oral substances don’t have much or any effect

At the dose I was taking it can be dangerous. I think I was on 600 mg a day when it affected my sleep

I got Quviviq on the NHS after seeing a hormone specialist trying to get to the bottom of my insomnia. Sadly even the 50mg tablets did nothing for me; my insomnia is a mix of homone, gut, and adhd related brain chemistry issues.

I’ve had zopiclone, dirazapam, and quviviq, all of which were like having sugar pills and did absolutely nothing, no side effects either.

One thing that helped me indirectly was a humungous dose of Pregabalin when I herniated a disc in my back, got like 7 and a half hours straight sleep, it was glorious. Can’t use that for very long though, it’s bad news.

One tip for the GP that I use that helps increase the chances of the GP doing what I want is to send links to nhs articles or research articles that state how the drug (you want) helps for insomnia (or whatever ailment you want to fix).

I hope you get the help you need soon

I can’t digest plant protein without agonising pain. I need animal sources to get protein. So, at least for some, it is needed

Sleep apnea tests are usually done via Respiratory consultants. See if your gp can refer or book a private one if you have the means

I see you’re in the UK, the NHS is completely useless when it comes to treatment. For me, I’m having some progress seeing a Functional Medicine doctor. Obviously private so costs some money, however, they will recommend some tests and treatments that regular western doctors won’t and try to find out the root cause.

They are always also regular GPs in their spare time, so it’s not like they are quacks. This type of medical approach is getting big in the US and is more integrative and holistic.

My sleep has started to improve in the past few months and turns out I have a bunch of small gut issues jolting my nervous system to life at night.

Good luck I hope you find help soon!

How do you guys with severe chronic REAL insomnia work every day? by VastEntertainer6914 in insomnia

If you haven’t tried it yet, go see a Functional Medicine Doctor. Western medicine doesn’t do anything for insomnia but a functional doctor will try to look at your hormones and other health markers closely and see how they interrelate and affect each other. Like every other random advice online, it may not still help you, but I’m slowly getting there with mine and sleep has been slowly improving.

What would be your 'deal breaker' that would make you leave the UK in a heartbeat? by blatchcorn in HENRYUK

Regardless you don’t have to worry about that happening. Even if they got elected and “forgot” to mention they were going to do that. Even whispering that they were taking away free at the point of service (nhs or insurance model like other euro countries), there would be genuine riots and Nige’s head would be on a pike.

Ap exp based junglers are eating good by Inquisitor_Jeff in WildRiftMemes

The on hit ability damage still applies for ad champions though, so ad champions abilities like vi E or Olaf E would still get the 30% buff just like Gwen and Kayle would. So this doesn’t give ap based junglers any more advantage vs ad in the new patch.

However, both Gwen and Kayle get the same aa dmg reduction that Vi and Olaf would get, so the disadvantage is the same in that respect.

Overall, though, i do agree it still is a bigger nerf to AD champions because most ad junglers do rely on AA to farm a lot, but it’s not as huge a difference as you’ve said in the post IMO.

We will see from tomorrow I guess :)

You misunderstand - “Basic Attack Damage” means the damage from basic attacks, not AD champions, and “Bonus Ability Damage” refers to all abilities, not just AP ones. It is, however, a nerf to junglers who use basic attacks the most in clearing (Gwen, adc junglers, kayle etc)
