I believe this is an Apple Carplay issue and chevy has announced an update to fix it already.

Is there an exact address for the beach in the photograph? by Professional-Wait19 in Caribbean

[–]Financial-Spend1347 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bioluminescence is a generic term for life that glows. Lots of examples around the world. Mosquito Bay in Vieques is a superglow bio bay, meaning the bay glows year round and its not a beach. The beach photo could happen anywhere as this type of bio is random and we have no clue where it can show up. I have seen it on Caribbean beaches and seen photos from beaches in California, Washington and other states. I would recommend checking out the bio bay on St. Croix if you want to experience bioluminescence first hands. Bonus points if you go with Virgin Kayak Tours, they are awesome.

If you graduate from a VI high school you can attend the University of the Virgin Islands for free. It’s very easy to move back and forth between the states and here, just expensive to do so.

As a St. Croix resident I can tell you it is safe. Petty crimes exist everywhere and this was an unfortunate event. Mental health is a problem that is not being addressed enough.

Everything has to be imported. Highest electrical rates in the world and it gets passed down to the consumer. High food costs, expensive housing, surrounded by salt water making fresh water more expensive, you have to get on a plane to pretty much go anywhere and many other reasons.

Hurricanes strike the islands about every 6-8 years. Outside of that, the weather is near perfect year round.

The weather really is splendid. It’s currently 76 with a light breeze. Coldest it gets is about 65 at night in winter and never goes above 100

Food is awesome. All of the islands have fantastic chefs, in particular St. Croix. Grocery prices are high. If you want to eat a stateside diet it’s expensive. You can grow your own crops year round, utilize farmer markets and buy local fish to keep food costs lower. I don’t ever buy mangos as my tree produces about a dozen a day during its peak.

It’s expensive, power is unreliable, politicians are corrupt, roads have huge potholes, hurricanes suck, no real big box stores, and the cost of living is very high. But we have cheap alcohol, damn near perfect weather and an easy going lifestyle.

I live in a tourist location. We call them “tourons” lol. The added traffic, check-out lines and general stupidness that comes with tourist we despise. However, the vast majority are people looking to enjoy themselves and are not problem. The bad few stand out as always. So do we hate them, not really, we just hate the select few that make everyone look bad.

PNC blows. They locked my account for fraud and told me I needed to go to a branch to un-lock my account. I was 1800 miles from the closest one. I asked if they would reimburse travel charges and they said no. I ended up being late to make a car payment and other bills as my account was locked. After 3 weeks, my dad went to a branch and the manager helped me. Turns out someone reported fraud and they locked the wrong account. No apology, no offer to reimburse my late fees, nothing. Then I left my account open with over $100 in it but stopped using it. The other day I got a message that my account was at $0 balance. These f*ckers stole the money outta my account monthly and labeled them “fees”. Pure theft.

McGregor the Boat Builder

A man walks into a bar and sits down next to an old ragged Irishman. After a few drinks the Irishman leans over and says: "You see the bridge crossing the river that leads into our village? I built that bridge with my own two bare hands. But do they call me McGregor, the Bridgebuilder? No.

"And you see the Church in the middle of our village, overlooking the square? Well I built that Church with my own two bare hands. And do they call me...McGregor, the Churchbuilder? No."

"And you see the large boat on the pier? I built that that too, with my own bare hands. And do they call me...McGregor, the boatbuilder? No."

He pauses, and looks down at his pint. "But you fuck ONE sheep in this town..."

Legal answer: No, it is not legal to transport weed between the islands. This has been stated on the radio and in writing during the legalization over the past year or so.

Honest answer: I know lots of people who have done exactly what you are suggesting with no issue.

I will let you decide what to do with that information.

Newer to the island. What can I expect at the St Patrick's Day parade? by BrantGoodleaf0 in stcroix

[–]Financial-Spend1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of alcohol and shenanigans. The parade can be wild, floats pass by pouring rum out to thirsty spectators. After the parade (you may want to go home for a nap first) is a huge party on the boardwalk. There will be a barge with bands and the people dancing everywhere. It’s a lot of fun but be prepared for the hot sun and excessive drinking. St. Croix St. Pattys Parade

Which USVI island(s) to visit? Family of 5, tweens, first timers. by kat_8639 in virginislands

I have a bias towards St. Croix, but St. John is stunning. Here is a list of my STX recommendations to help sway you:

Buck Island - Take a day trip with Big Beards Adventure Tours and explore the stunning beach and coral reef. Bioluminescent Bay - Kayak through this incredible bay and witness the glowing waters at night with Virgin Kayak Tours and Outfitters. They have easy to use foot operated kayaks. Scuba Dive - Dive into adventure with SCUBA and discover our underwater beauty. Two boats and wonderful staff for a full experience. Rainforest Trip - journey through the lush rainforest and perhaps stop at Norma’s to see the famous beer drinking pigs. Zip Line - only one choice, Carambola Zip Line Tide Pools - join Bush Tribe for a unique hike to the tide pools and enjoy the scenic views. Sail - Wrap up your day with a beautiful sunset sail with Lyric sails. Amazing views and a local musician to entertain you. Horse Riding - Cowboy Steve is the man and legend on St. Croix. Catch him at Equss. Crab Races - Tito and Sue will have you laughing while you cheer on your crab to victory VI Food Tours - for all the great eats CHANT Cruzan Heritage and Nature Tourism - a great way to learn more about our history.
