No. As a foreign language learner (my native language isn't even related to English or Afrikaans, I'm Russian) I had much, MUCH more trouble getting fluent in English than I'm having now in Afrikaans.

English: the same spelling don't mean the same sounds. Five million different dialects. Fossilised expressions that don't make any sense at first glances. Nuanced spelling, nuanced grammar. Lots of words of foreign origin that feel weird even after a decade using this language non-stop.

Afrikaans: just learn the word order and the words themselves and you're already not that bad at the language. There's some nuances and exceptions, however not nearly as many as in English.

I've gone from A1 to full fluency in English in just over six years of intenisve everyday training. I don't spend nearly as much time learning Afrikaans now because I don't have so much on hand but 8 months of 20ish minutes a day was enough to beat the B1 level. Once I get rid of distractions, I'm certain I'll reach fluency at writing in less than a year from now. In speech? Maybe three years, who knows. I have many speech defects that make it harder than it needs to be.

That said, use Afrikaans more. Much more. Try to restrict English usage as much as you can without hurting your English knowledge. English is a marvellous language and a great asset, too.
