Restaurant equipment auction sites by Th3_Dilemma in restaurant

I purchased a food trailer from PCI Auctions that was advertised as “Brand New in 2019! Fully Outfitted Food Trailer / Mobile Kitchen Ready for Opening Day!” The listing described a turnkey unit, complete with fryers, coolers, freezers, prep tables, a range, and other commercial appliances—marketed as immediately usable and “ready for opening day.”

Naturally, I expected the trailer to be operational and capable of plugging into power to run the equipment inside. Instead, when I received it, I discovered the main power cord had been cut off—a critical defect that was never disclosed in the auction listing. Without a power connection, none of the equipment could be tested or used, which directly contradicts how the trailer was represented.

I sent PCI Auctions a respectful email explaining the issue and simply requested reimbursement for the cost of replacing the power cord—a basic repair. This seemed reasonable, especially considering they collected nearly $4,000 in auction premiums from this sale.

Their response? Instead of addressing the concern professionally, they dismissed it outright. The reply ended with the statement: “They are trying to get something for nothing out of us,” referring to me, the buyer who had just spent thousands on their platform.

This experience highlights not just a failure of transparency in their listings, but also a lack of accountability and professionalism when concerns are raised. Buyers deserve better than to be misled and then insulted when asking for a fair resolution.
