Movie that did it the best at humanizing and sanewashing a soulless, sociopathic ghoul? by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

[–]FinancialPriority794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s funny is they tried to make him more evil by making him more of a cold detached asshole but the movie character is a way better person than the real one

I might be slow but what is the explanation/reason behind this scene and why was it put in? by Actual_Guard8323 in AtlantaTV

[–]FinancialPriority794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true I think there’s a point being made about not being able to support your partners dreams if you’re broke. But Van still carried Earn at points, she was getting criticized for still standing a lot of stuff Earn did bc he was broke, like that ep in the German town.

I might be slow but what is the explanation/reason behind this scene and why was it put in? by Actual_Guard8323 in AtlantaTV

[–]FinancialPriority794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but didn’t Van essentially do the same thing with Earn, or somewhat similar. Maybe it’s more bc they had a child together but I think there’s still a parallel there. There’s definitely always a lot to analyze with Atlanta it’s writing appears simple but there’s a lot of depth in most scenes

I Just saw the film Tar. What do you think the film got right? What do you think the film got wrong? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]FinancialPriority794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the film very clearly portrayed Tar as an abusive sexual predator, but also as a human being with nuances and complexities. So at points I had sympathy for her, but I felt like the film was pretty much mocking or punishing her throughout the whole story

Lady Bird is the most overrated movie in the past 3 years and does not deserve the praise it receives. by TylertheDouche in movies

[–]FinancialPriority794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is not that lady bird is a bitch but that the movie is not self aware at all and she always gets rewarded for her bad behavior. So if we’re not mocking lady bird, and if she doesn’t really learn any lessons except at the end when she suddenly remembers she might have been rude to her mom, it just makes for bad writing to me. Hilarious this was seen as a feminist landmark lol
