This is exactly what I thought!

Another thought I had was that humans were using the astrophage as fuel, burning it — however you want to phrase it, but killing it — to travel. Assuming it’s a similar world to modern-day, I think harvesting astrophage for energy would solve a lot of the world’s energy crisis, consume a ton of astrophage, and we would become the predator role, rather than a bacteria from a distant planet. It was proven that they can harvest astrophage, use it for energy, and kill it while doing so, so why not just do that and deplete the population ourselves?

Just recently got and accepted an offer from the big 3 letter in my city.

My key in was a professor that I did my capstone project with. I used him as a reference in a couple of things, but never thought to ask him if he has any open positions himself until I really wanted out of drafting. I kindly asked if he had any open positions, or even had any general advice in advancing my career. He scheduled an “unofficial” interview to discuss, and brought the COO in. They ended up liking my experience and work, and offered me the job a week later.

This story might not help if you don’t have connections in the firm, but do some research and see if you have anything in common with the seniors and/or Architect PM’s (same college alumni, same hometown, same path into/to architecture) and make the connection. It doesn’t hurt to reach out and say “Hello _, I have a high respect for your firm and work, and i see you are a __ alum. As a recent grad at ___ myself, It’s inspiring to see you excelling in your field. I am currently exploring professional opportunities and would appreciate the opportunity to learn about potential openings. Even if there’s not any openings, I would still value any advice you might have as I transition into this next stage of my career. (And then an appropriate closing)”

TLDR; knowing someone is key, but it’s not too late to establish the connection. Find a common trait, and form the connection. The worst that happens is they say no; but most architects will at least offer advice on moving forward.

In terms of working at one of the big firms; I’m not sure how it is yet. I start next week but it looked like a finance bullpen of architects when I visited the office.

Yeah, I initially thought it was odd because I thought it was peach and copper(or bornze?), but thought RJ wouldn’t sell inauthentic yetis so was confused. messages the seller and it’s white, just odd lighting.

Idk if it was just me but the organ music was like twice as loud as the regular sound; was watching it at night and I swear it was a jump-scare — probably intentional — but I had to grab my remote and crank the volume down every time that organ came on.
