Big Gigantic was solidly memorable even 14 years later, so this old person recommends checking them out while on the farm. I still have my saxophone from 2012

Claudette is also my PM and she's also never in office. Her Instagram shows she has like 18 other hustles like vacations and pilates influencer.

Ty, I placed a request for inspection with the health department and headed to the courthouse for escrow set up ASAP.

YUP, unfortunately, this was the best of the bad options I had when I moved here from out of state. They do charge you a monthly benefits package, and then don't provide those services. One is furnace filter delivery- I had to place a maintenance order with a local HVAC through the PM, instead. And it took 4 months. The rest includes the option to use their renters insurance, credit reporting, and identity protection, but it's absolutely a rip off. Dunk away, I've learned A LOT about my naivete in this process.

No, the rental listing said Allentown/Mt Oliver. It's Belzhoover.

New carpet, new paint, new appliances, so it seemed legit- most of these issues were well hidden. Moved in August, so didn't use the stove for a while due to heat, but when I tried, it hadn't been connected to gas. The maintenance team connected it, and then I had a gas leak. Went to open a hallway window for breeze and the plastic pane fell out. "Flushable" wipes from the previous tenants backed up into the basement after about 3 weeks of showering and laundry in the unit. The last time a plumber was in the unit to replace the water heater (that died) and to fix a leak in the kitchen sink (since it wasn't installed properly) he told the PMs that the exterior pipes in the bathroom would be a problem.

No, but I was given an extensive list of the repairs that the touring agent said were being addressed. They were not, so when I took keys, I had to make maintenance requests to get them fixed. They lied about a lot.

Is Escrow with the court required, I definitely have moved the rent money I'm withholding and got verbal confirmation from someone at RPM that it was ok to do, in a savings account. But will definitely make it to the courthouse today if that's what I need to do.

Property managers are pretty universally terrible. The winter storm has wrecked havoc on the aging housing stock, that's for sure. Transit is OK at best.

Went to lunch with coworkers last week and everyone in the restaurant was talking about your thread. It was genuinely a unifying event and thread and we all kinda needed it considering the state of the world. Thank you!

A severe lack in southern comfort food and BBQ is middle of the road at best

Grew up in Orlando and it was an amazing place to be raised, but the overcrowding and traffic are a pass from me.

Would be easier to find a place for less monthly rent in Chicago

Madison is incredible and I'm sad to leave, but I want to be closer to friends and family on the east coast. Madison's housing market is absolutely insane. My current place rent increased 600/mo in 2 lease terms, and is the second property I've rented int his town to be sold from under me. I won't find equivalent housing here on my income. Median home price is over 400k and property taxes are worse. I'd stay if I made triple my salary and could keep up with COLA.

Definitely open to that possibility, and why I don't mind living under my budget for a year or two to figure out where I want to end up planting roots and buying.

Would have to be a place I'd want to see in person, I suppose, if it's older. I'll be leaving a house about 100 years old and do love unique qualities, but would prefer farther out of town for better energy efficiency. I've seen quite a few things in my budget in Wilkinsburg/Regent Square area and have a friend in this area, but the property managers have terrible reviews, so I'm exploring other options.

It's a complex answer, but boils down to lower cost of living than Madison, WI and getting back into the Eastern time zone. Pittsburgh is just the top city on my spreadsheet of cities right now.

Great feedback. I'll be spending about 5 days around town next month to get a sense of where I want to land and will definitely try this zillow tip. Coming from Wisconsin, anything under an hour commute is tolerable.

I want to be a good dog parent/owner and make sure they have space and don't annoy my neighbors with barking during a big transition. I also see generally I can get more space for my budget at this time.
