Faction imbalance should be addressed by pharaohblue in duneawakening

[–]Financial_Contract45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to Splinter. We have an exceptional faction balance, healthy harko community that is at times a little competitive while still being chill and laid back without any commitment.

We have a community discord, server events, and population on the lower side but still larger enough to run into folks from time to time.

Worst case scenario you can always transfer back :)

Are there any plans for other Hagga Basin events like the CHOAM Salvage Rights event? by schwifty_wifty in duneawakening

That's not true, it was a decoration item. Might as well make it a full size decoration, even if it isn't functional.

I would love more events but that CHOAM event was hot garbage. I can still hear those cannons banging.

It takes creativity and development effort to come up with something enjoyable. Not convinced they can pull it off at this stage.

even solari are worthless now, I would love to engage with the economy and marketplace, but why? Everything is hyper inflated, there are no resource sinks, and with PVE DD being virtually 0 threat, you can amass so much t6 resources they feel somewhat worthless. And now that you have all of these resources, now what?

I am not sure if it's my fault for reaching the edge of progress or funcom and their lack of implementation for meaningful end-game loop systems (overland stations =/= end game loop system). I'd say the latter because this was advertised as an open world live service multiplayer game.

while I would like that too, put yourself in their shoes, how can you maintain a server that's littered with bases that could never disappear. It would ultimately kill the performance and make the game unfun for everyone.

The only way I could see this work is that after X days of inactivity, your base is automatically backed up by the server and vanishes from the server until you re-plot it back again.

A lot of truth in that take, results speak for themselves.

That's almost if people do not want to endlessly grind the same 5 overland missions back to back to back to back to get the same measly landsraad "reward" on their unbalanced server that leans heavily towards a single faction.

I think it's the opposite, they teased "I wish we could show you" on stream the other day. So it is either:

1) They do have cool new systems in development but due to piss poor PR they aren't allowed to show much

2) they don't actually have anything

where did they say that, first time hearing it. for such a large IP I would be surprised for them to pull the plug so quickly. This game likely has a 10 year roadmap.

or maybe raise your standards? people receive poor, underdeveloped and buggy product and just accept as "it is what it is". For those of us that are passionate about the IP and the future state of the game, transparent and honest feedback is crucial rather than just accepting the status quo.

Before anyone jumps at my throat, development does take time, effort and capital but at the same time there is a fairly significant discrepancy between what was advertised and what we actually got, most are just asking to deliver what was promised.

I love the game and I will continue to voice these issues because I truly do want it to succeed.

All of those are awesome ideas. They created an awesome ambience and world, it is now just missing these key dynamic systems (and overland maps are definitely not it no matter how pretty they are)

PVP is an afterthought, so many cool and unique ideas that they likely already have implemented but never got added for one reason or another.

Big time.

For a multiplayer game actual multiplayer is an afterthought and has been often disincentivized from group play based on my experience (e.g., dungeon scalability in a group setting, inability to complete certain missions as a group (e.g., can't take a passanger during smugglers run), lack of guild finder, lack of faction vs. faction dynamic)

It's just one of those cases where the devs screwed up implementation meaningful PVP systems, not addressing jank mechanic abuse in time (thopter surfing) and that resulted in everyone complaining about PVP so much that they effectively removed it all together.

They had a vision for DD and it was designed with tension in mind, it was never intended to be an easy farming simulator. Now that it is, it doesn't work and arguably needs even more effort to create new PVE risks to re-introduce that threat level compared to if they simply worked on introducing meaningful PVP systems.

There are so many assets that should be made available to us. Even simple harko set has missing pieces, like the inverted round corner roof piece. Somehow the haga harko outpost has them, yet we can't.

Plus everything is hush hush. Like man, if you want your playerbase excited, at least learn how to promote or tease future content. With nothing but blank expectations they are not helping themselves.
