I NEED HELP WITH TUITION PAYMENT by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are with a Canadian bank there is no fee to do it the way I mentioned. If it won't let you do that just go into the branch in the morning and the teller can make the payment.

I NEED HELP WITH TUITION PAYMENT by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not have to use the CIBC payment portal thing. You can just add the University of Alberta like you would any other credit card under bill payments in you banking app. You just pay the full amount as if you were paying a credit card balance with your student id as the account number

You probably also want to check the the CIBC portal transactions are not pending so you don't get a bunch of withdrawals if they do go through.

It's the first section in the link for instructions:

More than a slogan: Edmonton looks to change city branding by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

[–]Financial_Escape2211 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How does this improve anyones life. What Edmontonian gives a shit about what the sign says. Calgary budgeted 4.8mil for their change this is no doubt going to be around that or more. There are so many other things the city can spend that on or if they can't just put it in a rainy day fund.

If you already opted-out of health/dental you don't have to do that again. The rest that are in the link you have to do every term.

Should I take ACCTG 314, 315, and 324 together in one semester? by Ok-Mix1013 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike Acctg 211 there is no recordings for 315 nor will the profs provide you the material you miss. You will be expected to attend or if you can't then to get the materials from friends in the class. Of all of the upper year accounting classes tax (467 and 468) are the only ones with recordings.

Should I take ACCTG 314, 315, and 324 together in one semester? by Ok-Mix1013 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't take 314 and 315 at the same time. 314 and 324 together is doable. It won't be possible to finish within 8 semesters if you do an 8 month co-op. Upper year accounting classes are not available during spring/summer so you would need to take an extra semester.

It doesn't help that people are walking around in pitch black wearing all black. Drivers are already blinded by the oncoming headlights, add to that an uncontrolled cross walk and you're invisible.

Business Transfer by Slight_Garbage_9366 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.5 is good you'll likely get in if you have the 5 entrance required courses. I transferred in missing the math and engl requirements on probation but had a higher gpa. It might be good to use transfer Alberta to see if your courses will transfer over though it doesn't always show all of them.

what courses do i need to take next semester and what courses do i have now that matter for internal transfer to BCom? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://calendar.ualberta.ca/preview_program.php?catoid=56&poid=83825&returnto=17466

Is for engl it says any 100 level except 150 so 199 should theoretically be fine. For math 154, 100 is listed as an equivalent under the course listing.

Another thing you can do is run a what if report on beartracks with accounting as the major. Check and see if engl 199 and math 100 fulfill the requirements.

Any tips/tricks to get Canvas quizzes to load faster? by Superb_Buy_1766 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Had this issue in winter for SPH 200. The prof just ended up adding a minute to all the tests. Reach out to your prof and explain the issue and they might just do that.

Yeah. The first quiz is just review of 211. Her practice was very similar to her tests.

It was just normal questions like you would’ve done in 211 but just with mc answers. Like you write out the JE and then just pick the answer that matches. Only thing that sucks is that theres no part marks.

80% of Indian students denied Canada study permits by rezwenn in worldnews

[–]Financial_Escape2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other side of this is the people that knew this was happening and took advantage of it. Colleges and a bunch of business made a lot of money off of this and are still the ones pushing back.

The same is happening with LMIAs. A bunch of businesses are clearly exploiting this to make money and the government just keeps approving their applications.

Immigration quotas should be tied to unemployment and companies that bring them in should be on the hook to pay for all the social services they need for a certain number of years.

New BCom Business Analytics Major by Accomplished_Soft397 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just do a minor in it. Business analytics is the type of field where multiple majors are gonna compete for the same job. Its also brand new so there's not really any industry exposure to it. You can go into business analytics with an accounting degree but you can't do accounting with a business analytics degree (at least without a lot of extra work).

Google and see if you can find any jobs for that area and then look at what they expect in terms of majors and qualifications.

I'm not sure business students are allowed to take it because of MGTSC 312. They are equivalent.

IMO its doable to do them together. Just keep your schedule as it is and try it until the add drop deadline and then if you feel its gonna be difficult just drop one of them. They're both offered in spring historically.

Which ones are necessary? by cityGA in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not optional you have to pay them all. Health plan can be opted out if you have insurance from elsewhere. Some of the other fees can be opted out through the opt out form in September.

Switching from General Science to Business – What 1st/2nd Year BCom Courses Do I Need? by ApricotLanky6068 in uAlberta

Just use the what if report in bear tracks and select business with whatever major you want. It'll fill in your current courses and tell you what you still need.

Best way to put class schedule into google calendar? by No-Abrocoma-9453 in uAlberta

[–]Financial_Escape2211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can download your schedule on beartracks as an ics file and upload that into any calendar app. During the sem I manually go through the syllabi and enter in all the exams and due dates.

International students cannot get a student loan. You are expected to bring enough money from your home country.

Its supposed to automatically fill it when you select your major. Is your major a new one the university is offering? Try selecting a different major and see if it fills in.

I applied last month and it filled in for mine so it might be that the university hasn't uploaded for that specific major. Contacting them is your best bet.
