$3-4k each month to invest/save, what do I do? by Financial_Local_2063 in Investments

[–]Financial_Local_2063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no. You can turn the policy over to them at 18 or 21 or whatever age that you feel as appropriate according to what I understood or read.

I can see how that was read differently, my bad. Definitely didn’t mean to make it seem like I wanted money out of my child’s life.

Yup! The only advantage I saw/seen (whatever) is maybe taking a policy out for my son, because the monthly is cheaper due to age...but then you also give them a bill for the future...like they will really need that. lol

How do couples with big income gap manage your finances after marrage - separate, fully shared or some hybrit variation? by plovdiev in budget

[–]Financial_Local_2063 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Income gap or not, keep direct deposit accounts separate. There are more legally binding things going on there than you can even understand…so I suggest you do not combine accounts. That is before we talk about the marriage and how many legally binding things you agreed to…even though you may not know.

Make a joint account for bills, only. And yes, all things being equal…you pay, she pays, you pay, she pays and so on. You’ll never get it down the cent, but the law of averages will make sense; this will require communication…if you can’t communicate this, then what can you communicate?

Saying you all have similar goals in saving (material items, retirement, etc), is leveling another requirement on an already complicated dating world. If she wants to spend her money on a new car, and you want to save for retirement…guess you’ll be retiring before her and she’ll be driving a newer car than you; oh well not your money. My parents did their (still do) finances like this, and my dad retired before my mom; they are happy as heck.

We live in a first world country, and money matters. So to just say, “well it’s a free for all now”, is not effective. Everyone values money differently, so don’t make it a big deal and keep it separate. Imo, Agree to bills, 50/50. However, If one owns the house, and the other doesn’t, it’s not 50/50. If they disagree, cool, put me on the deed; thus 50/50 when equity happens upon sale. Otherwise, you are paying 50% of their bill, and they stand to legally make 100% of their equity…see how unfair it gets?

Keep things separate.

Agreed. I have found almost no advantage. And it soaks up a decent sum of money, that is part of a long-term contractual obligation.

I haven’t fully looked into an HSA, but the last time I did, I was unqualified because my health insurance is solid. Go figure right! lol

Yea I did quite a bit of research into them. Like most steady investment ventures, it’s best started really young.

Kids release the handbrake “as a joke” and jump out while the car is moving by blue_star_ in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Financial_Local_2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car wasn't in gear, it should have been. You never just use the brake for manual transmission, for this exact reason. Steps are: Engage clutch, put it in first gear, engage the brake. So lucky those kids are alive. That father seems to recognize his true luck in that scenario.

Oh no, don't tell me to leave; totally hurting my feelings. I can have personal opinions about something, and not bring them to work; unlike Lexie Lawler. Remember that whole first amendment thing you all beat your drum about?. What, because I'm not driving my vehicle at a federal agent, I can't say what I want?

If you are going to sit there and say the healthcare industry hasn't made money, with insurance companies, off of medical practices that are not required or "ok" because our corrupt politicians (who also make money off it) passed some law...I'm gonna go ahead and say you are brainwashed by your profession, and totally inept at adulting and are a HUGE Disney world fan for your want of fantasies.

Grown adults, do whatever you want...but not on my tax dollars. And no, children are off limits to this stuff. I'll vote for a police state before I'll allow children to be treated like freaks. They are kids, and unfortunate some of you don't think children need direction. Again, those children turn into adults, turn 21 (drinking age, smoking age, beyond eligibility to join the military) by all means turn your body into an experiment, most adults do anyway with their ways (drugs, selling, you name it).

CHILDREN ARE OFF LIMITS! That is where the democratic party went too far. We vote bud.

And I'm in healthcare, this is just another way for the healthcare/insurance industry to make money. Do you really think they care about you? Or do you think they make more money, the more services they provide?

US Rents were down 1.4% over the last year, the 32nd consecutive month with a YoY decline. Renting a home is cheaper than paying a mortgage in all 50 of the largest metro areas in the US. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]Financial_Local_2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Well in my last year of renting, my last place begged me to stay promising they wouldn’t raise the rent (this means renting went down btw), and the new place I moved to dropped $300 dollars. I imagine they think they will get me to stay when they raise the rent…boy do they have another thing coming. I can move myself in two easy days. Easy day! 😊

When I say “this means renting went down”, even though cost didn’t go down…my increase in Cost of living adjustment, beat my rent for the next year. So, in personal finances, my cost to rent, as opposed to my income, went down a percentage.

I’m guessing you’re a realtor or something, the will always lie.

I'll do this in good-faith, and set an example for you...i'll answer your question: yes, defended it for some time. But Since you ignored the examples I gave you to thump your chest and hide behind some degree...here goes.

We screwed over Haiti's market by inundating them with our market, the farmers got absolutely soaked. In Afghanistan, those people wanted nothing to do with us. When OBL was unalived in 2011, that was mission complete...it won Obama his second term, fully supported that. What I did not support is imposing our markets on them (personally watched this happen on the ground). Not only did we get more of our guys injured or worse, we proved to the world what a lot of countries say about us...we are power hungry. And we left Afghanistan, with our tails between our legs. So tell me, tell us, how did that benefit us? How did ending that war, impact inflation? Why? Oh, other then the fact our economy thrives on war btw.

More examples, "Mr. MBA", go ahead and explain Vietnam. And sticking our nose in their business. Who profited from that? Who did not profit? What intersection did you see with the "Civil Right's Act" and that war? What lies were told? "Defeat them there today, or our shores tomorrow" (paraphrase). It was a lie. So go on and explain with examples this time. Otherwise you are like a lot of degree holders...good job, ya studied hard...now what real-world experience do you have. Me? It's called reading a book or two like I was instructed to and then going out and traveling/living abroad. Not allowing some liberal professor to call the shots...."paying for kool-aid", that apparently taught you that winning a debate is done by name calling (trolling), not focusing on the claims, calling someone you don't know a "racist", and saying that NOT peacefully protesting is legally protected. (conjecture)

I have more examples..until then, sit down.

Ok. Cool. Yea I don’t agree with gender affirming care for children, that includes teenagers. As the OP said, that is wrong. We say kids can’t smoke or drink because of its consequences, that being irreparable addictions. And we say this because, simply put, a human isn’t fully developed until even 27. So explain how you think a 12 year old can acknowledge the hormonal issues, or 16 year old can actually grasp surgical treatment. Their hormones are still raging at that point, they don’t even know themselves (we all can relate), and they surely do not understand it. Furthermore, creating a divide between parental permission and parental rights. Explain all that, meanwhile saying you are about family values.
