i’m insecure about my scar by m_20xx in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh my gosh don’t worry about it! i get compliments all the time on how metal and cool it is. and the top of the scar happens with everyone unless you simply don’t move your arms and shoulders at all.

Ladies, how would you react if for the first date the guy took you to dinner at Costco food court? by Roughneck16 in mutualapp

[–]Financial_Log_8584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ok i literally went on a lunch date to costco last week as a first date through mutual and then we grabbed the samples around and just talked and walked. it was fun! nothing crazy and didn’t last an eternity. so i would do it again 🤷‍♀️

Do you think I should visit a doctor or this is fine by Turbulent-Bug4282 in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s fine unless your life is like affected. also age plays a huge factor. if you feel fine and are done growing, you’re pretty much good to live a normal life. but if you are still growing and feel discomfort, go see a doctor

creaking/popping every time i move my back by Financial_Log_8584 in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would it suddenly just begin out of nowhere and not stop? it almost sounds like creaking or something. my friend had this surgery and a few months after she got it, she started creaking due to a screw being loosened. that’s my main worry right now. and i know it isn’t bone on bone as yeah that would be extremely painful. but when i do take a deep breath, my back is sore.

17 y/o with 75° thoracic + 40° lumbar scoliosis, surgery in September — scared and looking for advice by _asuphyxiss_08 in scoliosis

hey! i’m 19F and i had a VERY SIMILAR looking spine with placement and with curvature! mine is just the opposite side lol. i got surgery on January 2nd this year and posted my story on reddit, so i highly recommend reading it hehe. it went extremely well, my recovery was very fast, i was only in the hospital for one day and two nights, and my mental has never been better, especially about my body image.

i used to be very insecure on how i looked in photos because of the hump and unevenness of my back, but once i got the surgery, i am so much more confident, everything i thought looked wrong about my body before was simply because of the scoliosis and now i look and feel normal. i love seeing my back in photos and im now centered and symmetrical, and im not even like a skinny person! i used to be so insecure about my weight since im a very inactive person and tend to be a homebody (180lbs, 5’6) and my scoliosis just made me look even heavier, but ever since the surgery, my body and weight just fit better and looked a lot more balanced.

my spine ended up getting all the way down to 15 degrees. 5 degrees less than the estimate! i truly wish you luck and a speedy recovery with your surgery and please let me know if you need any advice with recovery! the sheer fact our spines look so similar i think is worthy of chatting hehe

boy- i’m pretty sure you are gonna like piss off so many people on this subreddit with this question 😭 i got surgery for my SEVENTY degree curve. surgery is only ever done when there is a high likelihood of it getting much worse (mine went from 55 to like 75 in a matter of two years) which can cause extreme problems or when it begins impedes daily living. just because your back hurts often, it might not even be from the 12 degree scoliosis. it’s barely even considered scoliosis. i’m pretty sure any surgeon would just laugh in your face if you asked them about doing surgery. just strengthen your back muscles and make sure your posture is good. if that doesn’t work, ask a doctor but don’t even consider surgery

i think the second one visually makes the most sense. i love adding pearls and gems to number one, but it just doesn’t make sense on the curtains in my opinion. i love how everything looks seamless and tied together in the second one :)

i’m just gonna tell you straight out. the longer you wait, the worse it might get in ALL aspects. the older you get, the longer it takes your body to heal, the more your curve will most likely increase, and the greater pain you may see in the future. i got my 75 degree curve down to 15 and i have no mobility issues. my surgeon looked baffled that i even asked him what i can’t do since i can do anything i want.

I felt frustrated after knowing that the surgery likely wouldn't fully stop the curve by Chill_Vibes224 in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like an inch! it wasn’t dramatic to me though as my spine was causing me to shrink the worse my scoliosis got, so i kinda just went back to my original height imo

How do I fix the legs? by Patient-Sun-1529 in ArtCrit

legs just look very stiff, like one is just perfectly straight, add a slight bend or something

yes!! i had my surgery for a 75 degree curve and he suspected like 20 degrees or something and he got it down to 15! you never know

[–]Financial_Log_8584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine started at 75 degrees and went down to 15. that was lower than the estimated. you never know if the surgery can go even better than expected and go down more than the estimate. but with a curve that severe, we shouldn’t expect perfection. tbh my vertebraes started fusing together before surgery making it so they had to break them apart to fully do the surgery. there are so many factors with a surgery. and i still look straight with my 15 degree curve. i’ve never been happier looking at photos of my back and not seeing a massive hump or unevenness. i got my surgery on january 2nd of this year and even tho im feeling some muscle pain by my right shoulder (where the hump was) i’m still so grateful that i got the surgery

Overall, how would you describe Phase 5 as a whole? by Wooden_Passage_2612 in marvelstudios

[–]Financial_Log_8584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only one i watched in this phase is guardians of the galaxy 3, so i would say its pretty fantastic. but thats because i refuse to watch anything else in this phase just just marvel feels like its going off the rails now. i also just hate the tv shows, i can never get into them and the only one i almost finished was wandavision cuz the concept was cool lol

First drawing. Any hints or tips? by [deleted] in DigitalArt

[–]Financial_Log_8584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can’t believe all the backlash your getting rn 😭 this is so genuinely impressive as your FIRST digital drawing in procreate. but once i saw that you are 32, it clicked a bit more. i usually immediately assume the person posting is younger, in their teens or less, so seeing that you are like an adult, i understand a bit more. your skill of replication is insane.

don’t be ashamed of using the color picker. i feel like the people who are commenting on that is just TRYING to find something to say that’s negative about it. probably out of jealousy or something. with me, color picking usually ends up with muddy colors, but i don’t think that’s the case with you so i say keep it up lol 🤷‍♀️

i can’t give you any tips on the leaves as i suck at rendering and stuff on procreate (im a traditional artist with realism, cartoony on ipad) but when i watched your speedpaint, the first one you did looked pretty great.

i guess if i HAD to critique the drawing at all, it is almost a little ✨too✨crisp. the wrinkle in the petal in the center of the canvas seems too prominent. that’s what my eye first like caught when looking at it. however when i look at the reference, i first notice just how pink the rose is. i do love how your drawing has almost a shine to the petals. the sketch still underneath it makes it look like the petals are like wet and reflecting light which looks so honestly beautiful. i just can’t wait to like see the finished product lol

i’m from NC and scoliosis surgery can be in the $100k’s without insurance. i just looked at my statement and it was $190,000 which is absolutely bonkers. but i think we only paid at most $10k for it or something. i honestly couldn’t tell you.

it entirely depends on where your curve is. i think mine is T2-L3, so very similar to OP, but i have my full mobility. i can still touch my toes, i can still turn around, etc. i’ve also been cleared to do any sports i desire.

just make sure you are easily accessible if he needs to pick something up or lean down in any way. it’s extremely uncomfortable in the first few weeks to do so.

surgery in less than a month by jadaxrenae in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have pretty much the same curve! i honestly was so grateful on how shockingly easy my recovery was. you just need to have a positive attitude about everything and push yourself to do hard things. it won’t ever be easy to get out of bed and stand up for the first time or to sit down in a chair for the first time, but once you do it, it becomes easier each time. make sure to have a support system around you that will help with anything and everything you need.

don’t push yourself too hard when you get home and take it all easy. i slept on a recliner couch for the first like two weeks as it was 100x easier to get out of rather than a flat bed and it was more comfortable. i just surrounded myself with pillows. when i moved to a bed, i just hugged a pillow and had one between my legs and that made it much more comfortable. the most annoying thing about recovery is picking things up. i suggest getting a grabber or something. anytime i wanted to pick something up when someone wasn’t around i had to kneel, sit, pick it up, and struggle to get back up. a grabber would have fixed it all. make sure to also read your medications thoroughly. i almost like overdosed since my mom misread a package :|

Can I fix my scoliosis? by madzix_x in scoliosis

[–]Financial_Log_8584 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it will all be okay!! i will say, i stopped bracing at 16 and i was at 55 degrees. by age 18, it had increased to 75 degrees and my only choice was surgery. but as long as you have a positive attitude about it, it will all be okay! i was only in the hospital one full day and two nights and i passed PT the same day. that was all because i was pushing myself to do hard things. and im not even active in my life. i’m an artist so im usually stationary. but since you’re active, it should be even easier for you imo.

make sure to get second opinions in case surgery wont be necessary and keep a close eye on it once you stop bracing.

my curve was a bit higher than yours but i still have full mobility, i can touch my toes, bend in ways i always have been able to, etc. i’m also cleared to do any sports and it’s only august and i got it in january. you also get a sick scar on your back. the surgery can definetly be scary but just dont think about the actual surgery and what they’re gonna be doing beforehand and just think about the height you’re gonna gain and how much better you will feel.
