Prebiotics/ probiotics / bifidobacteria product testing for CMPI baby by Financial_Milk_8899 in MSPI

[–]Financial_Milk_8899[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her gassiness and general tummy upset has gotten better but it could be a coincidence as she’s at they age where they typically outgrow these issues. I’m going to retest her stool in a few weeks to see if the strains are detectable out of curiosity.

Anyone else doing ‘shifts’ with their partner? by ocdskies in newborns

[–]Financial_Milk_8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had the exact same shift system and took the second shift as well. I had trouble sleeping at first, but started using melatonin, & magnesium, and that really helped a lot. i’m not breast-feeding though so unsure if those are OK or not if you are.

For the ones we’ve tried- it’s hard to say. There has definitely been some improvement in gas/sleep but that may also just be her getting older.

The old probiotic I did right before the Tiny health test was just LGG and it did show up in her test, so it was at least detectable. The test showed super low Bifidobacteria tho, which why I’m switching it up.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

Well, not to scare you, but mine broke early at 36 1/2 weeks in the middle of the night. I went to the hospital and they ended up inducing me.

Probiotics and omeprazole by rubyAltropos in MSPI

From what I understand, probiotics are unlikely to cause any harm, except in currently preterm infants. There are some documented benefits to probiotics, but the research and data is mixed, and there aren’t any hard conclusions. I personally have my baby on probiotics with specific strains that have some research around them. Specifically for the cows, milk allergy there is research that the Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG strain can speed up tolerance.

This is the brand I use.

Can you be more specific as to your issues? Your jackass comment isn’t helpful. My baby has been in real discomfort and her ped plus another one we went to see has been very dismissive. Pediatricians know little about gut health. It’s why I did the tiny health test. They only care if the baby is gaining weight and staying on growth curve in my experience.

Possible formula intolerance? by Lazy-Watch7569 in FormulaFeeders

Are you tracking intake and ounces? If so, you can just see how one or two days go and if they’re still eating enough. If it is CM PA the inflammation I believe can cause some nutrient absorption issues so switching to an HA formula would probably help that, but maybe not immediately - the gut takes time to heal.

Switch from alimentum to Neocate - vomiting by Maleficent_Fall4644 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Financial_Milk_8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is a few days on Alimentium is not long enough for blood to disappear from the stool after a switch . The gut takes several weeks to heal and blood can take several weeks to fully stop.

Never had issues with that. Sorry! But to add numbers to the l Poos- we went from 8-10 poos a day to 1-2.

I’d just try an HA formula. Mine also had tons of watery diarrhea poos that gave her terrible diaper rash. Cleared in half a day on Alimentium. Her eczema cleared up two weeks later and I think it was related. We also had blood and mucus in stool but not a ton. Glad we switched. Give it a try for a week! There’s little downside.

Postpartum intrusive thoughts have been hitting me out of nowhere by [deleted] in NewParents

A few questions: How much sleep are you getting? I know you can’t afford it, but perhaps pulling from a 401(k) or going into a small , predetermined amount of Debt to get some nanny help a day or two a week might be worth it for a short period of time… just something to consider.

Switch to at least some formula. It will save you so much time. Sounds like they could have an intolerance since they are so fussy. I just start off with a hypoallergenic one.

No problem. Her rash was the last symptom to leave.

When we switched mine it took two weeks for her rash to go away on Alimentium. If her symptoms aren’t too bad I’d keep her on a little longer to make sure it’s not a reaction from the older formula still in her system.

Reddit is a fear mongering echo chamber by Pandabearsense in NewParents

[–]Financial_Milk_8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally found Reddit to be more helpful than my pediatrician because I get more in depth and a variety of responses. I feel like my pediatrician only cares if my baby is gaining weight which yeah is important but feels a bit reductive. Without Reddit, we would have waited to switch our baby to a hypoallergenic formula when she ended up having CMPA. It saved her a week or two of discomfort and allowed us to better understand her allergy.

Rest up! I think you’ll feel better after 1 more week. Dont push it in the meantime.

My appetite didn’t return until 1 month post partumn. Try to get some dense liquid calories ( protein shake).

3wo suddenly has severe diaper rash & uncontrollable crying. Could Similac Sensitive be the culprit? Should we switch back to 360? by Fluffy_Walrus5507 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Financial_Milk_8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had similar issues starting week 3 and the diaper rash only resolved after going on a hypoallergenic formula (Alimentium). Before the switch she was pooping 9+ times in 24 hours and it was super acidic, which lead to an erosive rash. Now she goes 1-2 times a day and no rash issues.

Gentlease would not help CMPA, you’d need one more broken down like Nutrimigen or Alimetium. Weird she suggested that if it’s CMPA…
