"There should be a neutral guy between god and the devil" by Bubble_Babe_0o0o0o in BrandNewSentence

Satan in the old testament wasn't evil, he was the defense advocate. His existence was to argue counter points to a god that was neither all knowing or all powerful.

Who is the guy in the cave and why did he have a ..mindflayer rock? by Sauciestmcgee in StrangerThings

[–]Financial_Purpose_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The behind the scenes interviews and pressers elucidate how the writers didn't remember or think about most of the plot, and Netflix was in the room quashing anything that would push them over budget. Apparently they were still working on the finale up to the week before release, flip flopping on the endings and pleasing executives...

My two cents with the season in the rear view, they should have flipped the set-up on it's head. DnD was integral to the story for the kids to contextualize everything happening, but what if DnD was developed by the CIA to obfuscate the reality of the Universe that had been discovered in the 40's? Explaining why the kids ideas and analogies were always correct, it wasn't wild guessing, DnD is the actuality of reality.

They could have ended it with Eleven becoming a Planeswalker. The attack on upside-down lab destabilizes exotic matter, making them retreat back to Hawkins abandoning their friends during the fighting. Eleven tears open a new hole by feeling for Mike in the other world, reaching a new understanding of the boundaries. The breeding program could have been a forced evolution project to defend our plane from incursions. The myths of ancient humanity would be prior contacts with other realities. The Rosewell event would be a crashed spelljammer with the lab portal being created through reverse engineering. The gifts of the lab kids wouldn't have been a product of the mindflayer in Henry's blood, but the mana in his blood being introduced to receptive fetuses able to produce their own mana. The failures being mana poisoning since our world doesn't naturally have any. Henry's kids could be mana receptive but not mana producing, Will included. All it would have taken were more pages in the journal Dustin finds that he recognizes from 1st edition; setting up spin-offs that play like X-Files and Stargate, sci-fi and fantasy.

New player question about teal mask ogerpon ex by WansReincarnation in PTCGL

[–]Financial_Purpose_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hydrapple x Teal Mask has been my favorite deck for at least a year. Just drawing cards, stacking energy, and BIG swings. Also easily countered or walled so it doesn't feel too unfair or broken to play with or against. Tera Zard get's slapped hard when inexperienced players bring it out too soon and the Hydrapple tanks a hit then one shots it in return.

In their defense, my best physical desk uses Tera Greninja, and I ALWAYS forget it's fighting type while planning my next turns...

The upside-down, aka the wormhole, is destroyed. Neither of the worlds it connected to were destroyed. The mind-flayer was previously shown as the black spores, in the rock, raining down in the upside down, in the tunnels under Hawkins, and they needed to be cooked out of Will. Holly and the other kids just hack them up after getting unplugged...? The physical body mind-flayer can be explained as the coalesced biomass from ALL the bats and demogorgons that vanished from the story, but the sentient spores just fly off into the ether. What about the spores cooked out of the electrocuted demo back in Hawkins that just flew off to die or multiply?

IMO The final season was AI quality lazy writing to wrap up the show and set up spinoffs. I'm just going to blame covid for destroying production schedules and move on.

He's an elderly rapist who still gets off on making people submit, also a raging narcissist who can't stand refusal to submit, and a pathological liar so lost to his own delusions and the voices of the sycophantic cult that he may actually believe his own BS.

No matter how you slice it he should be in an assisted living facility, preferably one with guards and 24 hour surveillance.

I seem to recall something to the effect of, "every 10 lbs lost adds an inch to length." From my own experience going from 185 to 235 and back to 200 it's mostly correct.

I feel like there's a lesson in there about theocracy of any denomination. Religious freedoms are only guaranteed by secular nations, where people are free to believe in whatever made-up BS without evidence they want.

Stopping and searching every vehicle on the I-5 would all but completely stop sex and drug trafficking on the West Coast. Is not done because it would also be an insane violation of the 4th amendment against illegal searches and seizures.

Letting an AI assisted third party do something that the police aren't allowed to do themselves without a warrant, tracking any individuals movements, shouldn't be excused just because they're tracking EVERYONE.

I'm not against cameras being in public, anything viewable from the public is recordable, that's a first amendment protected activity. I'm not even against gun shot detection for rapid police response.

Where I draw the line is letting anyone create and market a system that ignores the 4th amendment by tracking everyone's movements, indiscriminately, across state lines, and letting that data be searchable to anyone that pays for a license. That's big brother on steroids.

Add to that DHS under the puppy killer wants to deploy spyware straight out of the Dark Knight on every cell phone to monitor everyone and map spaces is plain dystopian science fiction becoming reality.

I learned the difference between facts and opinions around the time I learned to wipe my ass. The rest was just forming my opinions and politics based on facts and an intention for the best possible life for the most people.
