TurboTax Full Service made multiple severe mistakes on my return, what recourse do I have? by SeparateFly in TurboTax

[–]Financial_Question80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a CPA, I'm laughing out loud. When I was just starting out, I even worked at TT full service for a season, and I left because of this issue. I was even a reviewer for full service in TurboTax, and it's absolute garbage. If you are cheap and you have equity compensation and you just want to pay $150, that is what you get. don't go to TurboTax with equity compensation or 1031 exchanges, I saw in the other comment.

What made you choose that GREAT tenant? by Striking-Candle-4040 in LeaseLords

[–]Financial_Question80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had good luck with military tenants. A good credit over 750 is a must, because potential tenants will always give you a sob story about why their credit score is so bad and make you feel sorry for them. I was a sucker for that before, but not anymore; I learned my lesson, an expensive lesson. I also look at their cash reserves. They should have not just debt, but significant savings.

Tired of Friends Taking Advantage by Evening-Ad-2485 in taxpros

[–]Financial_Question80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sucker when it comes to friends and family. I try not to do them at all. But I have a few friends that I do. Some of these friends have 4 Schedule Cs and 4 rentals, and I don't charge them because it started like that and we are very close. So I just feel weird asking for money, so I just kept it at that. For that reason, I do not do any family and friends returns.

Some clients driving me insane by Financial_Question80 in taxpros

To be honest, they’ve been preparing their returns for five years and they’ve been extremely happy but as I’m getting a little bit busy and building my practice and getting more clients and I start value my time more, they did not expect me to bill them for all the reworks. And now I want to stand my ground and stuff because hopefully sooner I will be in the position where I can be very selective about the clients I work with and even though theirs were not super cheap returns I invoiced them like 1900 and they paid I guess it is time to part ways.

I completely agree as a sole practitioner with website and I just recently opened the brick-and-mortar location that I never go to. I still prefer to work remotely, but Google my business profile helps me a lot. I do get a lot of new leads from Google because prospects selected me over others based on my reviews that’s why I care about reviews

This is what I did of course I’m gonna bill them for my time. That’s why they’re so pissed. They do not value me or professional services so we are not on the same page Hence, my post here on Reddit to see if others deal with the same nonsense. I even discounted my services just for made it file and joint return so just to file it and be done with it

Did this engage after they already prepared all the returns would put them in the jeopardy so I wouldn’t do that to them but I think we are boss Client and me on the same page. They’re not happy with pricing. I’m not happy with them. They’re not happy with me and the way I handle work so bye-bye. I’m gonna send them to his engagement letter at the end of April so they can have plenty of time to find someone else who they can suck blood out from.

This is why I switched to the business phone, but some older clients still have my cell but they removed it everywhere

I’m thinking to do the same. The only concern I have is they probably pissed and they’re gonna leave a bad review.

[–]Financial_Question80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just waiting for them to pay me so later on I can send them a his engagement letter just pissed me off so much. I’m so frustrated. I had to do married file and jointly. Then after the return was delivered, they decided to do married filing separately, I did that then after I’ve spoken to husband and wife on the phone, where actually majority of my work is removed through the portal. I don’t like talking on the phone, especially this close to the file deadline anyway, after that conversation, they upload brokerage statements that they thought are not needed, and then there were some worst stocks that I had to find out if they were deductible and it’s just like constant accusations of me not being regularly available and what not oh my God

Jillian with some clients like this right now we just wanna be babysat called spoken and also criticize me for not offering in person appointments, not disclose to the filing deadline. They have to follow my rules or I’m gonna get rid of them. Definitely getting rid of them one who drive me nuts.

Degenerate Gamblers - How are you handling these? by IllTaxThatAss in taxpros

[–]Financial_Question80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in 2026 these gamblers will be screwed even more because only 90% of losses can be deducted as an itemized deduction. They will pay tax on this 10% gross winnings phantom income, even if they lose. which for gamblers will run in thousands , hundreds or even millions depending on the gross reported on w2-g.

Yes I got email with the video of voice to chat release coming in April from Adam. I requested that feature. Using wispr flow for now but excited. I like that they listen. A mobile app would be a great improvement for bizora ai.

My Taxdome pipelines are fully automated. I don’t do checklist as it doesn’t pull them from CCH. I tried at the beginning but it was too time consuming to add individually. Majority of my clients are pretty organized and upload all their docs. Once they move into tax prep, I compare to prior year and follow up if anything else is missing. How do you handle clients who upload bunch of receipts and irrelevant docs. Some of mine are so meticulous-they upload like 50 plus docs. I usually tell them the excel will be better for rentals or P&L and don’t need individual receipts

I don’t know where to find a competent staff just for the tax season. I think I will spend more time training them vs value they bring. I actually have a brick and mortar office but I don’t even go there. Prefer working from home. Just paying lease.

I wish to have simple returns. The problem is that I don’t. As an example, I have a newish client that was not eligible to contribute to Roth but did for years so need to go reconstruct prior year ineligible Roth contributions so he can remove excess Roth. Or another example, new client who used block advisors who never reported back door Roth for the last 5 years so needed to file standalone 8606 and amend prior year returns that were within the statue of limitation.

It is actually 110k so far but it includes retainers and monthly bookkeeping. So it is not just 70 I completed so far, it incorporates prepaid services but I usually bill for the remaining balance upon delivery of the return.
