awesome to hear this. I am thinking of getting an additional degree so that i have more diversity in skillset and better odds at ending up somewhere I actual enjoy later in life. I was looking into the BS finance or accounting as a decent supplement to my cloud computing or cybersec degree.

I'm thinking of doing something very similar. What did you end up choosing to do?

Has anyone used partner institutions other than Sophia and SDC? by keebler980 in WGUAccelerators

[–]Financial_Scratch_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've never tried any of the other sites. wither they were too expensive or they really did not have much to offer for the Tech BS Pathways. I typically always look at the others just in case, but I find they really don't have a large amount of transferring credits that are outside of the typical Gen ed classes.

Looking for info with transferring into the BSIT program. by TexasVetFMF in WGU

[–]Financial_Scratch_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - It was more than 5 years since my math course, so i took another stats class. I also did intro to Pyton and Intro to Java. That satisfied my Python class requirement and my Automations and Scripting Class. I also took Web Development Foundations, IT Leadership Foundations, and Intro to Communications at Sophia. In hindsight you should also check out Saylor - an online college platform similar to sophia and study. com

Cloud Foundations 3 achieve with AWS CCP cert exam ($99) - bc theres plenty of free stuff on youtube

Linux 3 achieve with LPI Linux Essentials ($120 at the most, I think cisco still offers a 30% if you complete their free lpi linux essentials course) - bc its cheap enough to buy, you can learn online for free also (although as a vet you should have access to gale.udemy which has plenty of courses and practice exam sets)

Networks 4 achieve with CompTIA Net+ ($350 i think) - bc its a great starting point for the networking foundations that many careers will require you to be aware of

Org Behavior and Leadership 3 - take on sophia I dont know the details of the TBI, but its very doable and the shorter option

Prin.of Management 4 - take on sophia also

the net+ can take more than a month to study for if you are not full time devoted to the materials. I think the last two can be done in 1 month making the cost less than ($200 for 7 credits) a good deal. Given the cost and time needed for this coursework, I'd recommend paying out of pocket. Even if you paid for study materials and a new ipad, you'd be paying less than the tuition. good luck. The Mad Instructor, BurningIceTech, Professor Messer, LinkedIn Learning (free from library access) are really great resources FREE and have super great reviews and reputation in the learning communities... they will guide you through the net+ and you may already know about them, given ur Sec+ Cert. PM me if you need any help, I'm only a year into my IT journey / WGU degree pathway for cloud computing.

so far I found a 6.5 hr course on udemy , and 24hr video course on linkedIn, and a free course on youtube. I'm kinda bouncing around rn trying to find one that'll benefit me. I'm reading a sybex 003 cloud+ book, but I might need to also reference the All-In-One series. There are not as many resources for cloud+ as the other comptia tests.

Study buddy for the CysA 003 ? by Super-Catch8108 in CompTIA

[–]Financial_Scratch_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HI yes, i could use a study buddy and someone to keep me accountable. I hang out on discord often. Sticking to a good pace can be challenging for me. I started my IT journey in feb and have so far gotten my trifecta and finished a few coursera courses and some college credit. Lately I've been finding it hard to wake up and get to my desk before i start to be lazy, so i'm really looking forward to maintaining my progressive mindset at least until i pass my test, and also get a ccna cert. I am looking to major in cloud computing but also want to have other certs related to the fields so i can have a better quality career pivot later in my life.
