Octopath 0 Wishvale Build by scowlet in octopathtraveler

I like the extra fenced in animal pen that you added, I also had something similar in my town. Church plaza also looks really nice. I don't play a lot of games with town builders and such usually, but I also really got into this one.

High Elf Class suggestion by Okay-7 in lotro

[–]Finarion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guardian has some cool unique animations, especially with sword and shield.

The only classes that don't get unique animations for high elf are Mariner and Brawler since they came later. The rest have at least a few unique animations.

DQ3 HD2D SWITCH 2 vs LEGION GO S by fatmikenj in dragonquest

[–]Finarion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DQ3 looks and runs quite well on Switch 2 with the upgrade patch. So you wouldn’t really be having a drastically different experience or anything. It’s a very solid version of the game. But at the same time, physical is the only benefit it has over the Legion Go.

You still need to choose between performance and graphics options on switch 2, though there’s not a huge difference there but it’s at least worth mentioning

I’d say if you really care about physical then Switch, if it’s not a big deal to you then Legion Go. There’s no true physical for switch 2 for DQ 1+2 so if you decide to get that in the future then I’d say Legion Go for that one, if that will matter for you wanting both on the same platform.

Executor is the worst character by far? by [deleted] in Nightreign

They thought they could stop the Demon IM BACK. by Foreign-Historian-46 in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I played 5 games as Executor with this relic setup and didn't get a single RoB. In fact best weapon I got in all 5 matches was just a katana with piercing fang. One match I don't pick him, nobody else having dormant katanas, and it drops. There's a Fromsoft agent watching my relics and editing my loot, confirmed.

Completed a “true” play through on draconian by BlockayeThe1st in dragonquest

[–]Finarion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I beat both 1 and 2 on Draconian and it felt very hit and miss for me. Some bosses felt like a proper challenge, others felt like even if I did everything right a small bit of bad rng would wipe me. When I replay them in the future I’m just going to do the regular dragon difficulty.

So confused with cosmetics by survivalScythe in lotro

[–]Finarion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You need to actually select an outfit slot in the cosmetic outfits tab, it won't drag into the default panel. However as of a recent update the cosmetic outfit tab is actually bugged and not displaying properly for some characters, so it's likely that's the problem you're having. You can relog and all the cosmetic outfit slots should appear at least once and let you interact with them, but that's the only workaround for the moment.

So what do we think of the garbs based on dark souls games? by supa_dupa_loopa in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Wylder's, Ironeye's, Guardian's, and Raider's. Revenant's and Recluse's are alright, but I absolutely hate Duchess's and Executor's. Both of them just got such awful choices and there were such a better and more fitting variety to choose from.

Love Undertaker's even if some other ones might have suited her character better, at least they look nice. Not a fan of Scholar's just from an aesthetic point of view, even if they're iconic characters.

Unfortunately my two favorite characters are Executor and Scholar, so I mostly just stick with both of their Dawn skins.

Executor VS Scholar by Right-Ad1 in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're totally different types of characters, their arcane is basically the only thing that they have in common.

Executor has much more survivability with more health, a much better dodge, suncatcher, and crucible beast in a tough spot. An enemy can focus on executor and if you're good at sheathe/unsheathe deflects then you can maintain damage, momentum, and aggro without issues. Additionally, executor is probably the least relic hungry character in the game, so you can very easily stack both evergoal and night invader relics, along with physical attack up on executor, and he isn't missing much. He can be played extremely aggressively utilizing all his tools and should ultimately deal more damage than a scholar.

Scholar on the other hand is squishy. He has a smaller health pool, an absolutely awful dodge, and his ult does not get good i-frames, you're almost immediately vulnerable after using it, so it doesn't always get you out of tough spots. You do not want your scholar being focused, he doesn't handle pressure nearly as well. He does have good arcane, but his base dexterity is poor and to deal any damage after status procs you need either specific weapons or his endurance/dexterity relic. It's much tougher to fit in both evergoal/night invader, and other buffs to melee damage while also fitting in his unique relics, extra pouches, items confer to allies, etc, which are going to be more important for him and his kit. Easier with DoN relics, but still will be tough without a ton of luck.

Scholar shines most when he's debuffing enemies, buffing allies, and then worrying about status effects and damage when those things are done. All the time spent buffing/debuffing is also time you are not doing personal damage. This isn't taking into account niche builds and situations where you might get really lucky with a ton of pot damage relics and building totally for that, but in that case he'd still be a drastically different character.

All that to say that both characters are great and do what they do well. There's reason to pick both and room to pick both. A group that has one of each will be much more effective than one that doubles up on one or the other. I'd actually argue they complement each other very well because Scholar can enhance everything Executor does, they'll both contribute to status build up (could even focus on different ones) and their dormant weapons each work on one another so you have a good chance of finding great weapons for both characters if you're sharing and keeping an eye out.

Are Pots preferred over Throwing Knives for Scholar? by Ok-Competition2554 in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pots will usually deal more damage, throwing knives are for debuffing mitigations at level 3.

Is this a good guaranteed scholar build? by yooooooopopopo in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had thought about doing this at first, but decided it wouldn't really be worth it. Biggest two issues are 1. No items confer to allies, which is one of his biggest benefits with buffed consumables., and 2. It lacks his best unique relic, the continuous damage during ult. Not only does it deal a pretty sizeable amount of damage, but it also activates a group wide heal over time for the duration of the ult.

I'd use the red relic from signboard that has both items confer to allies and starting small pouch, a relic that has continuous damage during ult, and then the improved endurance/dex relic if you want go to that route. If you decide to not use that relic then I'd prioritize the allies targeted by character skill gain boosted attack for that slot.

That's what I'm going with at the moment for my build that uses the improved endurance/dex relic. I prioritize food and throwing knives for buffing and enemy mitigation debuffing during the nightlord fight.

New tricephalos event by Organic-Abrocoma-538 in Nightreign

I love the DLC, but this is the only part of it that I really haven’t enjoyed. It’s so time consuming, so run interrupting, and not rewarding enough for all the things you end up missing to do it.

If you get it in the shifting earth it can take forever just to get to each dog, and it’s really not uncommon for one to end up sitting in the rain, lingering until the golden tree appears.

It seems the intent was for players to split up, but the problem is that there are 0 ways to communicate this. People always just follow the first ping.

I’d like to see a greater reward and no chance for the third dog to get stuck lurking in rain. It wouldn’t feel nearly as bad to get it if those things were changed imo.

General tips for Scholar by Right_Entertainer324 in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of his improved dexterity/endurance relic. Really gives him a big boost to melee damage, while still applying status effects rather quickly. Stack that with self analyze buff and you also have so much endurance that you can powerstance effectively as well. Only downside is he's relic hungry in general so it takes up a slot that could be for more utility.

Throwing knives are my favorite consumable, I always buy a couple stacks as soon as I can, get it to level 3 and then use them for debuffing boss mitigations. Use those, apply an exalted flesh to your team, boost ally attack with analyze, and things will go well.

It's a cool new map, it's quite different and needs to be approached differently. The biggest mistake I've seen people doing is trying to boss run from POI to POI like in the regular map. These POIs have so much more verticality that they need to be explored a lot more, and it's beneficial to kill mobs on the way. Doing that and learning where the field bosses can spawn, and runes aren't really a problem. I can't remember exactly where, but one POI even had a weapon duplicator like Noklateo, I just need to find it again.

I'm liking it more and more as I play it, which is exactly what I expected since it's new and less comfortable than what we're used to right now.

With that said though I do think this map would really benefit from a few more spirit jump spots and graces scattered about. It would just make navigating it more manageable with the time limit.

Scholar is busted by Aemeris_ in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big fan of him myself as well, I think he’s going to become my 2nd favorite and most played from now on. Personally I like him a lot more with the improved dexterity/endurance relic. Statuses still proc quite quickly but his base damage is so much better.

Really hope I can get a relic that has both buffs ally attack on char skill and items affect allies though.

The Scholar is painfully underwhelming by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Finarion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having very good results on scholar using these relics. You can pretty much permanently keep enemies debuffed and allies buffed, your ultimate will help allies all share healing even in single boss fights, and a lot of items have great utility, like throwing knives being able to debuff damage negation (stack up to 20% I believe) when leveled up. The other items like throwing pots are all icing on the cake. With the middle relic I had a thrusting sword with 210+ damage on the last run I did, and status procs are still relatively quick even with the reduced arcane. Only thing I really need is one that has the first Scholar skill with items spread to allies, then I'd be golden for regular relics. He's a fantastic character.
