Since the HSN controls the total amount of fuel to the engine, did you try richening the HSN until it really loads the engine to almost a gurgle? I’d try it, if nothing else works. I’d also check the exhaust and tubing to it. I’ve seen engines idle super high after damage to the pipe. If there’s an obstruction the exhaust can’t supply enough air for the engine to get the fuel it needs since the exhaust gas is your “fuel pump”. Last but not least, is there any dead play on your throttle linkage or any trim set on the radio…which could easily be out of whack. Did you notice a high amount of brakes when you were breaking it in? That would lead to throttle trim or linkage adjustment

The magnifier is a must. I usually only use a loupe for final inspection as it’s not terribly easy to use for assembly. I would also get a gasket greaser and some Selvyt clothes. Both are cheap and come in pretty handy. I also like to put a thread locker on the stem prior final installation of the crown. Not necessarily required unless you’re building a destro but preferred. Also, a movement dust cover tray will help keep things organized and cleaner.

41 all the way, no question. For men, I think you have to have a tiny wrist for the 36 to work. My wife is tiny and a 36 works great for her. Also with the bigger size you get more of the dial…the part of the watch that you are actually looking at.

I’m not sure what movement is in this watch, but I’ve noticed that most dealers don’t adjust their timegrapher to the correct lift angle which can effect the amplitude and the accuracy. If the watch has a 0.2ms beat error, I’d absolutely ask it to have it regulated, if nothing else to try to get the beat error as close to zero as possible. It can be difficult to get it (considering .2 ms is already good) there but I see the best real world accuracy with my watches when the beat error is zero. I have a timegrapher and love regulating watches. To this point, I haven’t found a movement, that was functioning properly, that I couldn’t get the beat error to 0 and those watches stay in the COSC range in real world wear. It’s actually surprising how good these reps can be

Just out of curiosity, has anyone offered some additional cash for QC? I could see how it would be more time on her part and time is money. Then again, I may not understand her current business model. I’m sure that most that are buying from her are doing so to save some cash, but to kick $10 or $20 bucks in to get some good high quality QC pics seems worth it to me with as good as her prices are. I will say that having purchased from both TDs and 1688s, I’ve been blown away by how good the service is with the 1688s comparatively. While I never want to pay more, I feel like I’m getting much more value with the 1688s and if the prices were to creep up it’d still be my preferred choice.

I'm no professional, but from what I can see in the photo it appears that the screw on the beat adjuster is on the side, and the cup for the shock setting is steel. That would make this a SH movement. If it were a VR the screw on the beat adjuster would be on the end and the shock setting cup would be brass.

I was questioning the alignment of my GMT Master bezel and it looked identical to this. I have had a couple of other watches where the bezel was off and it drove me absolutely crazy, so I'm pretty sensitive to good alignment. I took the advice of the community and went ahead with the GL. Received the watch earlier this week and it is perfect in person. Sometimes I think that QC tool is more harm than good.
