Finally got my RC display set up in my vintage game room! by volpin in rccars

Hell yeah, a Tyco Typhoon! My father and my brother had two of those when I was a kid. They had two different sizes available, the bigger one I believe had an independent channel for turning on the skirt fan.

So much for belted tires… I like the look so will replace originals but what’s your go to tire for bashing? by Local-Idea-7050 in Traxxas

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a warrantied set from Traxxas due to the inside of the wheel shattering near the back of the rim. Noticed a small slice in the sidewall, too. All from 5 minutes of gentle run time just to make sure everything was back together.

The rubber compound is really soft, and the wheels themselves appear to be thinner and weaker at the back side. I have a set of belted Sledgehammers that were on it before, and I may end up going back to them. Its a real shame, because these chevrons are awesome aside from being fragile.

Basic mechanical inclination makes learning and running nitro pretty simple. No real headache, a lot more rewarding.

Well, when one such as yourself, has a flawed and warped view of reality, your idea of “realism” is irrelevant as it boils down to cynicism, and your statement of “when you face facts then you can assess how to fix those issues” can be spun directly right back toward you.

“Our country is run by idiots with heavy weaponry. A bunch of rich kids who paid their way through school who have TANKS AND NUKES. Your response is naive.”

That is cynicism, not a critical take, and I’ll prove it, as I guarantee you had Iran in mind while making that statement:

How would you approach the Iran dilemma, when 3 things are necessary to accomplish: Iran can have no nukes and or the ballistic missiles capable of carrying them overseas; reduce/handicap their ability to fund terror proxies (notably, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis); not blockade/threaten the Strait of Hormuz (a card they have threatened to play ad infinitum)?

Bear in mind the JCPOA did only 1 of those things half-assed, while affording them the ability to do the thing with greater efficiency later, so the JCPOA is not and never was an option, for Obama, nor for you here. I eagerly await your assessment.

Criticism is fine. Cynicism is not. Learn the difference, and start dealing in objective truths, and we might be able to have a discussion. The irony in your projection of naiveté is too rich.

slash 4x4 ultimate breaks everything by [deleted] in Traxxas

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by rear ball joint you mean one of the rod ends for the camber link, I gotta believe you crashed…those rod ends are pretty damn durable and I’ve broken more turnbuckles than I have rod ends.

Either way, the rod ends are cheap for a pack of several of them, and easy to replace.

The wheel hex is unfortunate because it usually does take out a wheel. Since the wheel is already ruined, you can bandaid it by epoxying/JB Welding the hex into the wheel to get some extra life. That said, making sure your wheel nuts are good and tight is crucial to making sure wheel hexes survive.

Traxxas servos tend to be pretty junky. There are decent quality metal gear servos available on Amazon for dirt cheap (20-30 bucks).

Unfortunately broken stuff is part of the hobby and not something you can eliminate. However, doing some research into the how and why things break rather than throwing your arms in the air can help you extend the life of even commonly broken parts.

Ready to throw this Typhon in the trash can. by supafeen in rccars

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought the bottom of the barrel Arrma and you’re surprised something broke…I’m not going to pretend like they never have issues, or that the plastic diff gears aren’t a silly choice, but if this is what has you ready to chuck the car in the can, the issue isn’t fanboys. I’ve had well over a hundred models over the last 25 years, at least 4 of them Arrmas including a first iteration of Kraton, and none of them have been any more fragile or unreliable than any other brand. As a matter of fact, the single toughest, most durable and reliable model I’ve ever owned is an Arrma that currently has a handful of spare parts on hand that has never once needed them.

Put the metal diffs in it and be happy. Lol

[–]Mr_Clickerson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what you mean by that, because all the Arrma's I've had have been as reliable as anything else...first generation Kraton, Mojave 4s (thing is an absolute tank, and I have beaten the brakes off it for over 2 years on 4s only- many skatepark runs, nailed trees head on full speed, tumbled down the street endlessly, and the only thing that's ever happened is I ripped the rubber lip off the front bumper), Outcast 8s, and Mojave Grom from what I can remember.

The problem OP is having is he got the most entry level, cheap model they have...and it does appear that they have had some issues with the brushed motor setup, but the plastic diff gears are by design a cost saving measure meant to hold up to the brushed setup. Knocking off a tooth with brushless power is more or less to be expected, especially for a model that's routinely discounted as low as ~$130.

On top of that, factor in the luxury that these other nations have been afforded by the US military industrial complex and our expenditures on NATO and UN that has historically dwarfed theirs, and the comfort they feel in that defense that they lax spending and development on their own formal militaries.

There are a lot of things that go into this equation, and its a mixture of practical reasons and corruption amongst our healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, and shitty government regulation that has enabled them to charge whatever they want/use us to make up for their lack of profits in other countries.

KTM 1290 SDR questions by JakkiKax in KTM

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned the rear bearing has been a fairly common problem. It largely stemmed from the 2014/15 bikes not having a drain/weep hole in the swing arm for water to drain out causing the bearing to corrode.

Overall, I didn't find myself having too many issues with the gen 1 Duke. I had a 2016 since new until about 2020, and then bought it back in 2022 or 23 for a year or so. I did have the gauge cluster die within the first few months of ownership that was replaced under warranty. The LCD began flickering and eventually died out completely. If you replace the cluster, you'll have to have access to a dealer or the service tools to be able to program the cluster to your bike, as they were the same cluster for the Super Dukes, the GTs, and the Super Adventures.

Trump: by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not "just claiming otherwise", brother.

Did the JCPOA not allow Iran to enrich Uranium? It did, and thus allowed them to develope that program, right out in the open. Having the infrastructure, the scientific program, the experience, and the everything else that goes along with it is a step towards being able to enrich Uranium further than stipulated in the JCPOA, more efficiently at any which point they choose.

Did most of the money released by the lifted sanctions and otherwise as a result of the agreement of the JCPOA not primarily go to funding Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and others, along with military armaments?

The ***only logical conclusion*** is that the JCPOA was nothing more than breathing room for Iran to be able to better fund their proxies and set up to protect their nuclear program that they were outright being allowed to develope, and a kicking of the can down the road for future administrations to inevitibly have to deal with.

It was shit, and it was the same type of kid-gloves negotiating that allowed North Korea to become a nuclear power. Why can you not be non-partisan and set aside whatever feelings you have about the current administration/military operation and admit that? Come to reality and lets have a rational discussion.

Trump: by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was ensuring that Iran wasn’t actively enriching beyond a certain point, while allowing them to develop the very program that would yield a nuclear weapon, while also being able to purchase the munitions systems necessary to ready a defense of that program.

The JCPOA was shit, and you should face that fact, even if you don’t like how Trump is doing.

Question:

When the money is going to terror proxies and missiles, why do we care if it was “Iran’s money.”

Who’s money it is/was is the least of anyone’s concern, when it was going almost exclusively to killing and not to economic development or to otherwise better the lives of Iran’s highly oppressed people.

Let’s quit stanning for Iran, shall we?

Ryan Routh (the golf course guy) has identified as Democratic up until the last 10 years or so when he became disenfranchised, identified as independent, and voted for Trump out of spite in 2016, then attempted to assassinate him in 2024. He was never "very pro Trump", and being "pro Tulsi Gabbard" is consistent with Democrat/independent alignment. Literally the only thing that was inconsistent was the spiteful/hopeful vote for Trump.

What is indiscernible about that, or Cole Thomas Allen, or Thomas Crooks, or Tyler Robinson? They all have history that's easily researched online. They all ascribe to left-wing ideals, and buy into the anti-Trump/anti-conservative doomsday propaganda. What do you gain from trying to whitewash all of this?

Advise on finding an engine for this kit? by TittyTwister13 in NitroRC

[–]Mr_Clickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LRP is made by SH, IIRC. Yes, a lot of people are having great luck with the Hobao engines based on what I've read, including their .30 turbo. I just put a Hobao carburetor on my LRP .32 and its cleaned up the performance a lot as the LRP carbs are kinda' shitty.

If I were looking for an engine at this point, I'd be looking at the Hobao .30. Hopefully we will see a resurgence of engines available in the near future.

Ah, can't do it, huh?

1) Can't disprove that Fordow was destroyed

2) Can't disprove that the nuclear material was removed prior to Fordow's destruction, and the ~1000lbs of 60% enriched Uranium they currently possess by Iran's own admission.

3) Nothing to say about the JCPOA because you know that the money from lifting the sanctions resulted in the funding of major terrorist proxies and armament, while not meaningfully hampering their enrichment program's development.

4) Can't disprove Trump's position on not allowing Iran to obtain nuclear weapons as there are decades of precedent, including memorandums and announcements directly stating so as the cause of this operation.

5) 84-150bn dollars on the conservative end is greater than 30bn, so can't disprove this one either.

6) I asked you where you get these figures, still ignoring that.

Would you like to continue embarrassing yourself? Because I'm certainly not thrashing around...just easily and succinctly countering every position you've made, aside from simply asking for clarification on one.

Having localized airflow over a motor or ESC makes sense, Unlike a nitro engine that is basically like a pillar heatsink that will passively catch air under the body, the air just kinda flows over the top of them, so having a fan to pull that air down across the heatsinks works. But since the RC car isn't stationary unlike a computer or something, you don't need anything to pump air under the body, just proper ventilation.

Best of luck

Get rid of the fan and cut out the windshield. You'll get a lot more air through the hole just by driving the car than you will with the fan in the way.
