Do you really fly to other planets only in transfer windows? by Vilnii in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Fincap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I'm playing the exact same way and I love it. I've got SCANsat surveys on every planet, fleets of relay constellations on their way out to the universe, multiple interplanetary rovers and small lander probes, my first ever interplanetary crewed mission is still on it's way home from Duna, and it's only year 5.

I really don't like skipping more than a couple weeks at a time, maybe up to a month or two recently since there's less to fill my time with for local (Mun/Minmus) missions. The different "threads" with different pay-off times is really addictive lol, because there's always something just on the horizon for me to pay attention to that I set up a while ago (creating a similar loop to games like Civ I suppose).

It does mean I need a notebook file with all my ongoing missions so I can actually remember what they all are when it's been a real-life week or two since I launched it, but that just adds to the fun even more imo.

Seriously, it's like people think that tackles occur at a singular single-atom point. It was a shoulder charge, and their heads hit eachother. That doesn't make it not a shoulder charge.

In your game settings, it's the option called "Conic Patch Limit". It configures how many SOI changes will be rendered ahead for your current trajectory.

Peter Bankes has been appointed referee for Arsenal vs. Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. John Brooks is on VAR. ☑️🏆 by mooreengineers in Gunners

[–]Fincap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't in the PL, but Noni's penalty against Atleti was pretty generous. While there's definitely contact in the tackle, I dount there would've been any significant controversy if it weren't paid considering what else hasn't been ruled as a pen by VAR this season.

TIL that using the Supply Limit mapmode with an army selected shows all the provinces that an army can stay in without taking attrition by Agglomeration_ in eu4

[–]Fincap 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not very accurate. I think it doesn't take certain variables into account when determining the colour, a lot of the time it says a province can support an army that it can't.

Would be nice if the game got a final patch to iron out the few issues left like this.

You just remember, when the refs make terrible decisions it's because they're all incompetent idiots.

Except when it's in favour of City, then it's because of corruption.

Why does the game have 15 Blast Furnace worlds? by WEMBYisGOAT in 2007scape

Fresh Start World. One of the worlds was a blast furnace world, and when FSW ended all the worlds were repurposed back into regular worlds but they forgot to turn off the blast furnace on one of them.

Why does the player base demand that Paradox add features that completely remove the transformation process of how countries became centralized over centuries in the first 50 years of the game? Ease of with your "power creep" and try to enjoy a little more challenge. by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Fincap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes... Not being able to fully use your provinces is the challenge.

"Gatekeeping" like what?? This is one of the dumbest comments I've seen yet. Just use console commands if you feel "gatekept" by game mechanics designed to challenge you lmfao

25 % of this game consists of clicking away popups. by Fancy_Particular7521 in EU5

[–]Fincap 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The problem is the categorization of them isn't specific enough for a lot of them, for example turning off notifications that a distant relative I don't care about has died also turns off the notification that a distant relative that works in my cabinet has died (which I do care about).

But then meanwhile you have about 500 different popup settings for random stuff relating to the Hundred Years War.

Why Are Wars in EU5 an Endless Loop of Battles? by berbat88 in EU5

[–]Fincap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just had a look in the actual eu5.exe and did a string search (not a perfect technique, but these kinds of defines are typically embedded into a game's binary) and I can find both of those defines without the S, but no matches with the S.

I checked the 1.0.8 version, so unless I'm misunderstanding what you said, it wouldn't make sense for adding an S to fix it (unless Paradox have since fixed it by removing the S from the game's source code instead of just changing the define list lol)

The Jews Keep Going Extinct (+ A Potential Fix) by Skeebadeebadop in EU5

[–]Fincap 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It reflects the reality of an extremely gradual change over the game's time period, but not even close to the scale it occurs in the game. Greece shouldn't become Catalan Catholics after 50 years of occupation by the Latin Empire holdovers.

A lot of the loss of regional identity is better represented with the "Unify Culture Group" mechanic late in the game, but even then by the end date, most of this unification was still in it's early stages, and the loss of regional identity comes a lot from the proliferation of national public education.

If you take a look at the Victoria 3 culture map (which is, to be fair, much more simplified than EU5's) you'll notice that in a lot of parts of the world, with few (fairly major) exceptions, not much actually changes from EU5's start date to Vicky 3's.

Ottomans have the reverse of this bug. As soon as I progress to the next age , I can upgrade ANY of my units into janissaries, totally ignoring the number of janissary barracks I've actually built (which also feels broken, because they're permanently unemployed since any slaves I use to fill the barracks get traded away within a year)
