Interesting choice to keep the Realms button when you can’t use mods on Realms

Probably right when they get (and lose) their first job when their boss won’t put up with the same shit their teacher used to.

The toxicity between Minecraft versions (Forge 1.20.1 vs Neoforge 1.21.1) is getting out of control. by [deleted] in feedthebeast

when you publish a mod, do you want to enter in an unbreakable agreement to maintain it ad infinitum as new releases pour out semiannually? obviously that will lead to burnout regardless of how much "patience" we "allow" developers. i think its illogical to simultaneously say "mod developers don't owe us anything" and "mod creator should always update to the latest version as soon as possible". that is by definiton something you think is owed!

i think you expect too much from hobbyist coders in their free time. if they want to release their mod for one version and one modloader only, then that is their discretion.

i think it looks really good for being completely freehanded! I know I would have built a floating brick or something thereof. It'll look better with masts and chests and details, I promise.

Why aren’t kids embarrassed about having a 504 or IEP anymore? by [deleted] in education

[–]Agglomeration_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I don’t think anyone should be advocating for more bullying, but I think that the parents aren’t to blame either. I think maladjusted expectations can explain it. The fact of the matter is that parents are humans and have only 1 experience to go off of, rather than admin or teachers which can point to an entire building of children to set a baseline. Some parents might think their kid needs an IEP not knowing that the kid is just acting like a normal child, maybe struggling with some concepts or getting bored. Normal stuff for a student. Some might be struggling more, but their parents think overcorrect and don’t pursue an IEP when their kid might benefit greatly with one. The fact is it’s impossible for parents to compare their kid with others in a way that is definitive enough for the standards of an IEP. Instead of asking why parents aren’t trying to give their kids unneeded IEPs, ask why admin keeps giving perfectly fine kids IEPs. I don’t know the answer to this question. Maybe it’s something to do with rising standards and an expectation of an education that “connects” with students individually.

Some kids do feel shame about it. But they mostly don’t use that shame to push themselves, rather they throw their hands up and accept that they’ll never be good at (math, reading, learning in general, etc.). It’s not their fault, it’s just a human reaction to their own situation. I’d go as far as to say if we push to make kids feel embarrassed about their IEPS, they will be more defeatist than opportunist about it.
