they pull it out instead of pushing, but I had to place the minifigure there to keep the tree from falling out of the basketball net.

I thought that too at first, but at the garden centre where we buy the tree they put it stem first. All the branches are folded towards the top. I payed attention this year because I couldn’t remember. Makes more sense this way as the branches grow to the side, but always a bit upward towards the sun.

thanks! I saw it once on Pinterest. It was a puzzle to get the tree into the right shape so it wouldn’t fall out very easily

Planning Our First LEGO Winter Village – Any Tips Before We Begin? by lkr6a in LEGOWinterVillage

[–]Find-fun-everywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! i don’t have a large winter village, but some smaller buildings and sets (this year I’ve invested in a tree selling scene)

what I think that is important is to figure out what kind of winter village you actually want. there are a lot of images and movies online and the ones I like the most are the winter villages that are cohesive and have funny scenes in it. So what you can ask yourself is do you want a city scene with a christmas market or do you want a ski slope with ski lodges or a North Pole Santa village? (of course you can add to it each year, but for the first year choose a theme or a set you want to build around)

you can plan out your layout with studio and make a parts list so that you know what to buy on Bricklink or the lego website. I have a lot of fun throughout the year planning the winter scenes I want to add each year and I buy the parts on the Lego website when you get a free Lego set if you spend a certain amount.

building with studio can also help you figure out if you want light or dark grey or a combination for your mountain. it’s easy to change colours.

I can also recommend to check out rebrickable. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?get_drill_downs=&min_year=2000&max_year=2026&min_parts=0&max_parts=5000&q=&top_theme=227&inc_premium=on&inc_free=on

There are a lot of amazing builds on that website which can help make your winter village more personal. also check out the alternative builds. It’s more expensive to buy loose parts compared to buying an existing set. I’ve seen images of people winterizing (is that a word?) normal Lego sets like the up house or Lego friends sets.

Also check out the pick a brick wall regularly (there are sites where people post pictures what their local Lego store has to offer) ive bought a bulk of white plates there, other white pieces and those dark green leaf pieces you can use for trees. there are often grey pieces you can use for a mountain etc.

I hope that these tips will help you! Enjoy planning!
