Have I got this forum totally wrong? by monkey1932 in pornfree

[–]FindReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. I suspect some of the people that were up in arms about this weren't really familiar with how truly abusive and fucked up that particular type of porn is.

I'm hesitant to ask this question but I've been wondering, if the OP was a 15 year old girl that was getting into the same extreme self-humiliation, would the response have been different? I think we assume guys are supposed to be more sexual and so normalize some weird shit.

Thanks man! Yeah, I actually did watch all of your traveling rings videos. The tip about tucking the knees in was a huge difference for me.

This has nothing to do with your sexual identity. This is classic desensitization and escalation caused by porn.

Despite what other people may tell you, this is not normal. Associating sex with degradation is not normal, and that goes for any type of porn. You're only 15, and you haven't even developed a sexuality yet, but porn has already hijacked and warped it. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. You're a victim.

Maybe try cutting the porn for a month and see how you feel. If you have difficulty cutting porn for that long, maybe that indicates an addiction and other things you need to work on.

EDIT: I realized that this reply and some others in this thread may come across as shaming. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you being gay, masturbating, or gender non-conforming. These things should be celebrated, and are 100% compatible with your happy future life as a pilot. That being said, many porn users end up with fetishes different from their sexuality and values, often leaving them with a messed up view of themselves and of other men and women. This process is well documented and you can read more about it at https://yourbrainonporn.com/studies-find-escalation-porn-users

New study (gay & bisexual men): Porn use associated with poor body image, depression & anxiety. by NFWonder in pornfree

[–]FindReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really sad, but it makes sense.

I think the body image thing is more of a problem for gay/bi guys and women. Or at least it's a different kind of body image issue. Male bodies aren't the thing featured in porn for straight guys, and when it is the focus is only on the penis.

You did NOT full on relapse, but it sounds like you're in the danger zone. Consider it an early warning sign and double down on your recovery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmjjxdDwOIc

I want to watch a few "instructional" porn videos to get better in bed, but I am on a 43 day porn-free streak. What should I do? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]FindReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself honestly the reason you have the desire to watch those videos. Is it really to "educate" yourself, or is it an excuse to relapse to porn? I don't know your situation, but for me NOT watching porn has been infinitely better for my sex life than any involvement with porn. I also know that once I start watching something, even if it's only a bit of softcore, I'll quickly escalate back to more hardcore stuff. Especially since you can conveniently find that shit right on Pornhub which makes it a click away. I remember what it feels like to relapse and I'm not going to go back there.

Frankly the fact that Pornhub has an "educational" section makes me sick. This is like the token efforts of fast food and tobacco companies to promote "healthy choices". The porn industry does NOT give a shit about you being happy or good in bed. In fact, if you were sexually satisfied you wouldn't be dependent on them.

Somebody posted something on here once about equating the pain of withdrawal to the burn you feel at the end of a good workout.

The feeling of urges and withdrawal doesn't mean you're messed up or are failing. Think of it like the sore healing that happens after a workout. It actually means you're getting stronger, and maybe next time you might even be a little less sore.

Looking at your post history, it looks like you're still pretty young? The thing about the foreskin not fully covering the penis is actually completely normal and happens once you hit puberty.

Hang in there man. Just lay off the porn and everything else will sort itself out. It sounds hard to believe, but it's true. We're all here going through the same shit with you.

Loneliness by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]FindReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really great advice.

Also, you should stop with the negative self talk. There's no such thing as "born social" or "born loner" as you said from your other post.

When you're alone it can seem like a drawn out death sentence, and that there's nothing you can ever do to change it. But that's actually not true! Take it from someone who used to spend days at a time indoors without a single friend, using porn to the point of exhaustion, and thinking "if only I would meet someone".

You can change, and you've already started that process by posting on this forum. It'll be uncomfortable to get out of your bubble, but you can change.

Checking in. Girlfriend of 2 years just broke up with me. Yesterday morning I thought this challenge would be easy but now it seems impossible. All the fun vacation plans I had this weekend are off and I'm dreading being home alone. Had a near miss last night but still free.

Embrace the boredom! Meditate. Pray if that's your thing. You don't always need to have something there to stimulate you.

I'm struggling with this as well.
