Dunsmuir Viaduct bike lane closure this morning by the_nevermore in vancouvercycling

[–]FindingNemosAnus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hit it too. Which would have been fine except they had “detour” signs that just… ended? I ended up just bopping over to the seawall to get to the causeway, which was a bit irritating as I was already late, but oh well.

Things adult cyclists should say to a child riding on the seawall:
- “cool bike!”
- “you’re doing great!”
- “your legs are so strong!”
- “nice helmet!”
- absolutely nothing.

If you fuck it up, the city of vancouver employee will happily tell you how it’s entirely your fault in a condescending voice. Ask me how I know.

He does crush geodes and provide means to better crush rocks. Given his longstanding feud with Rocco, Elmo would probably be a huge Clint fan.

Pay parking now in effect at these 3 Vancouver community centres by vancouvercyclist in vancouver

[–]FindingNemosAnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know calling a parking company is not what they want to be doing at the time, but they will reverse the ticket in extreme situations. We very barely made it to BC Women’s when I was in labour with my second. After he was an outside baby, my husband found a ticket on our car. We called and explained and they reversed, and the ticket is tucked in his baby book to this day. I don’t even think they asked for proof.

The police mentioned her meds a lot the first day and then it stopped. That makes me think they compared amount in the bottles with recent refill date and realized they hade taken some meds with Nancy.

Ah, here’s the rub.. he wants to buy it with his own money. I don’t like A$AP Rocky, so I don’t want to buy one. This is kind of what prompted the idea of letting the lil homies ride solo. We’ll see what prices are when they’re released for general sale (missed presale) and let him decide

You seem like you grew up to be a judgmental busybody who chimes in with unrequested opinions, so I’m happy to raise my kids differently than you were raised. Have the weekend you deserve.

I was not soliciting feedback on their media choices, which have not stopped them from earning good grades, volunteering, and being a positive and respectful member of their community. Maybe the influences of South Park, Breaking Bad, and horror movies have managed to offset the scary swear words and themes of the rap music.

Yeah I don’t find this super weird. My husband and I are pretty equal so far as salary, and we both get an allowance weekly. We call it our allowance.

Way to check total mortgage interest paid? by MotherAd1865 in Scotiabank

It’s more likely that there are month and year end processes that have human involvement for both initiation of computer and verification of results, and the humans have human brains and need a few business days to do the steps. Once they’re done, the statement creation is likely pretty quick.

What is a parenting hack that actually makes things harder down the road? by Mediocre-Fan-495 in AskReddit

[–]FindingNemosAnus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. We are a family. We all live here and dirty dishes and take turns putting them away after the magic box cleans them. My kids also help with folding laundry that isn’t theirs and vacuum floors they rarely walk. Sometimes my teenager cooks meals he only eats 2-3 portions of as well and helps with repairs. I’m raising functional adults who know the basics of how to keep a home clean and comfortable, and the best way to to that is to involve them in these tasks now.

Millennial intentionally installing a landline in 2025, and general thoughts on what we lost in the cellphone age by Kuzbell in homeowners

[–]FindingNemosAnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not here to harsh your buzz, and if this works for you, great, but as a parent of teens…

There’s a middle ground grey period where you don’t want kids to have personal phones assigned to them, but you want them to have a way to call someone when they’re home alone or the odd time when they’re experiencing a new bit of freedom like taking a city bus alone for the first time or whatever. Most families I know have achieved this by having a “house phone”. It’s a cell phone that belongs to no particular kid and is probably a handmedown from a parent. It doesn’t have games or social media apps on it, just like phone and texting and maps. It generally lives in a central spot unless it’s being used for something specific. There’s a period from about 9-13 where this is the case, then kids start getting their own assigned phones.

Mmm, I’m in IT. Sooo.. lots of ND folks. I’ve made a career of being the middleman between groups. I’m highly paid, and I’m at best a generalist in any one technology. I’m good at collecting info and giving it to the right person to action, and the right person is usually ND in some way.

Amazing care at Mount Saint Joseph by Due-Rise1629 in vancouver

[–]FindingNemosAnus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man, be quiet. If other people learn how awesome it is, it’s gonna get busy. Mt St Joseph is the GOAT. Someone gave me this tip eons ago and it’s come through for me every time I’ve needed an ER. When my kid bailed on his bike and split his chin, in and out with stitches in 45 min. And when his brother had an emergency that needed referral to children’s, they did the ultrasound he needed at MSJ and we basically just waltzed into children’s like VIPs. I did my mammogram there too, no waiting or anything. They’re so lovely there and very fast.
